Installed these in my 2009 MIA Fender Jazz bass.
Stock pickups were vintage ones and as I play in a metal band, needed something more "harsh".
These did the job, they brought more clarity to high mids and highs. Low mids are growly when needed and I won't even start about lows.
It handles everything you can throw at them.
Don't be fooled though. These are really versatile, can do great vintage tones as well, but with a nice growl to it.
I mainly play finger style and slap. These cut through distorted guitars and wall of cymbals like a knife through butter.
Have always used Seymour Duncan and these are top notch pickups.
Will buy again if I get another J type bass.

Beautiful forward bass sound.

Bought these to rewire an old fender jazz, they sound fantastic. Lovely bottom end and beautiful growl without ever sounding harsh. They can be coaxed into sitting back too for some slow soul! Versatile pick ups that can take centre stage when required.

To judge their tone, just listen to the many videos on YouTube or other platforms. There's simply no need to advertize this, they sound great, the very best among all the others after many comparisons.
I always use them in hum-cancelling mode, both pickups fully opened but they hum a little bit more than the stock pickups in my chinese-made bass. So, next time I change the strings I'll tape some copper foil in the cavities and link it to the main ground.
This has worked in my six-strings so that won't be an issue for long.

Just what I wanted
Wilson WIlsonson 09.04.2021
I added the pickups to a SX "Custom Handmade" J bass.
These pickups made the bass sound really well. I am not that knowledgeable in J bass tones, but these one seem to sound different than standard J style pickups. I would suggest to look up some comparison demos before buying.
Plugged in an Ashdown Toneman 300 with a flat EQ, both, dark and bright "metallic", tones can be achieved using only the tone on the bass.
Pickups drive very well through a Boss ODB-3.
