A no-brainer for Floyd users!

If you like to swap different string gauges or are searching which brand/type/gauge set you like the most, you will definitely LOVE the sure claw made by Schaller! Why? because there is nothing worse than to screw both screws a quarter of an eighth millimeter to the left to adjust the spring tension of a floating Floyd Rose system while leveling the bridge with the body. In comes this nifty item, with the turn of one allen wrench (hex key) you can adjust it very precise to get the desired tension on all springs at once ànd keep the sustain block level. Some back covers (the ones with open slots) will even let you adjust it without unscrewing the backplate! The claw also adds a little more sustain. The only downside is that there is no spot to properly solder/screw the ground wire, but this can be done by bending the wire around the screw when you install the claw (if your wire is long enough).
Pro : Much more easy to adjust spring tension, adds little more sustain, rock solid installation.
Con : too bad there isn't a proper way to fasten the ground wire

H
Excellent solution to the constant tweaking of tremolo spring claws
HalfManHalfGear 08.02.2020
This is a very well made and designed solution to make adjustments to the spring claw in guitars with a trem system. Just one screw, adjustable with a hex key / allen key, adjusts the tension of the springs without fuss and if a small access hole is drilled in your guitar's trem backplate, can also be performed in seconds without the prior removal of screws and foresaid panel! Just be careful that when you fit it, the mounting screws don't poke through into the guitars pickups / pickup cavities.

Brilliant if a bit 'spendy'
Stephen662 08.06.2024
I used this in my partscaster as I had spared no expense and fitted a Vega Trem... so "don't sink the ship for half a pence of tar", as the saying goes. Amazing! Only thing to look out for is where the screws go when fitting, as you don't really want to be piercing your pickup cavity. The screws are quite long and I was warned on various forums that this could be an issue. So I took measurements to ensure this would not happen and had the pickguard off the guitar to check there was no intrusion. All good. If required you could easily shorten the screws by a few mm.
Adjustment of the string tension is super accurate and easy - a small hole drilled into the trem cover allows adjustment in-situ with the provided Allen Key. Achieving a floating trem could not be easier; the perfect partner for a Vega Trem. So, I have now ordered another for my other Strat. The improvement is massive. There may be some mojo thinking going on, but I'm sure it improves the sustainas well as making adjustment simple.

More German ingenuity!
Anonymous 10.07.2016
Leo Fender got the spring claw right, when he designed the synchronised vibrato.

Schaller have made it much easier to install and adjust. So much so, that tremolo springs can be adjusted up and down using an allen key through a small hole in the the back plate, without removing it.

This is very clever.

Be aware though that the mounting screws will come through a middle pickup cavity in a Strat style guitar. Be aware of this before ordering.

Over all, a fantastic product.
