In the early 1970s I had a couple of genuine tortoise shell picks that worked perfectly for me. good grip, solid feel, clean and quiet attack and robust. Like many small good things, thy disappeared over the years and I've "made do" with good alternatives. As a heavy duty pick these are the best I've ever had and come very close to my original tortoise shell ones.
On my 1961ES-175D with Pyramid gold 14's (2 years old or more) the sound is pure "thunk".
At the other extreme, on a Les Paul with 9s, using a Wampler Tumnus overloading Big Muff Ram's Head Pi to push a Fender Tone Master Deluxe into sweet saturation the attack is clean and crisp - no clicking at all.
With a strat, set up for Knofler tones through the same Tone Master Deluxe Reverb the clarity and precision is sooo good.
Thank you Hense for producing this fantastic piece of gear - well worth the 9€
