Gibson Mini Humbucker R Chrome

36

Pickup

Originally, the mini humbuckers were only found on the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. The narrower magnetic field produces a clear and compact sound compared to normal humbuckers. In the 1970s, these pickups were often replaced by stronger (and often significantly lower) pickups - today, where gain and sustain are no longer a big issue thanks to the modern amps and pedals, you can appreciate the great sound of these pickups.

The model for the neck position has a little less output and sounds wonderfully bell-like - ideal for the big band of guitarists, where a normal humbucker at the neck always sounds messy.

K
Great mini hb
Kevin765 11.05.2014
I bought this pickup 4 years ago and it hasn't left my telecaster (my main guitar) since. Needs to be wired with 500k pots to sound right. I was inspired by Scotty Anderson & Brent Mason to put this in my tele. I have tried every neck pickup, including Lollars and Joe Bardens, this is my favourite. I have an original 60s Epiphone mini hb in my backup guitar. The two pickups seems comparable & I have no urge to put the vintage one in my main guitar. These seem quite expensive. I would happily try a seymour duncan though, if I got a 3rd mini hb equipped telecaster... this is not going to happen.

C
excellent
