This is an easy to use recorder. You just turn it on and press record. That's it.
It has noise, especially when it comes to recording quiet sources. Also, it can clip in very high dspl levels. However, it is not bad enough to make recorder unusable. Yet, in some cases can unpleasant.
It is bit hard to hold the recorder by hand due to the size. So, even if you don't touch any buttons to adjust levels etc during the recording you can still get the "handling noise". So, I use it with a small stand to minimise this.
I think it has a fairly flat response; if not a bit mid focussed. It is has a really nice stereo image. When you use the front and back and mix them together in post; it can record very realistic stereo ambient. Especially when you listen it back with headphones.
Plus, you can use it like an audio interface. So, it can work like a usb mic.
Device can drive my 250 ohm headphones good enough to monitor.
It works; without any problems, with external mics.
My expectations wasn't too high; since I'm getting for 3 mic recorder for such a low price. I must say, it met my expectations. All the down sides (especially noise) can be ignored due to ease of use and sound quality at given price.
PS: You need to delete your recordings in the device after bouncing them to computer. Otherwise, it says memory is full.

Powerful Multipurpose Handheld Recorder

I've been using my mobile to record organ music and it's ok, but tends to pick up a lot of noise and not have great dynamic range, so I decided to buy the Zoom H2Essential recorder. It's the first time I've used this kind of product, but reviews (see "A New Version Of An Audio Swiss Army Knife" on Youtube) seemed to indicate an excellent product.
I am extremely happy with the product, it works really well and I'm impressed with the results! As a novice user it is very straightforward to use and to connect to a PC to transfer .WAV files. Interestingly, there are both front/back and mix wav files recorded so, it gives a great deal of flexibility. In my case the mix file was just what I needed. The only thing I would change about the product is to be able to switch-off the rather bright LEDs on top, they can be dimmed slightly, but it would be nice to switch them off. I'm looking forward to using the mic with zoom/google meet in conjunction with my PC.

Sehr handlicher allrounder, mit dem man alles mögliche schnell und unkompliziert aufnehmen kann. Die Mid Side Stereophonie ist hier sehr praktisch, denn man kann vor der Aufnahme eine passende Stereobreite (90° oder 120°) auswählen und diese wenn man im Mid-Side-Raw Format aufnimmt auch noch im Nachhinein in einer DAW ändern. Außerdem gibt es zusätzlich zu den Mikrofonen, die das Seitensignal aufnehmen ein front- und ein rear-Mikrofon für das Mittensignal, das heißt man kann zwei Stereo spuren aufnehmen: Einmal für vorne und einmal für hinten. In einem anderen Modus fungieren front und rear in Kombination im Grunde wie ein Mikrofon mit Achter-Richtcharakteristik. Außerdem kann man mit front und rear jeweils in Mono als Hyperniere aufnehmen. Damit ergibt sich eine große Flexibilität für unterschiedlichste recording Situationen.
Die Bedienung ist im wesentlichen (vor allem fürs recording) schnell und praktisch, aber an manchen Stellen etwas komplizierter, als nötig (z.B. kann man, wenn man eine Aufnahme anhört nicht direkt zur Dateiliste mit den anderen Aufnahmen, zurück sondern immer einen Zwischenschritt über das allgemeine Menü machen). Der Sound ist für den Preis und Formfaktor absolut angemessen, aber natürlich nicht vergleichbar mit professionelleren Mikrofonen.
Verarbeitung scheint sehr solide zu sein, optimal um das Gerät schnell in der Jackentasche mitzunehmen, allerdings fehlt bei meinem eine der Gumminoppen die als Standfuß dienen dadurch steht es sehr wackelig. Die anderen Gumminoppen wirken allerdings nicht als würden sie so leicht abfallen, daher ist das wahrscheinlich eher ein einzelfall.
Etwas ärgerlich ist das man für erweiterte bluetooth Funktionalität (Bedienung über Smartphone usw.) einen Adapter von Zoom zusätzlich kaufen muss.

Ich habe den H2e mit Geige getestet.
Kritische Disziplin für Mikrofone!
Das Gerät ist perfekt für Klassik geeignet.
Kompakt, Vielseitig und sehr gute Auflösung und Klang.
Das Stereobild des H2e ist klar und offen.
Der Frequenzgang scheint recht ausgeglichen.
Fast Linear mit typischer Nieren Charakteristik.
Das heißt: Wer viel Bass sucht muss nah dran oder EQ.
Geige klingt in jedem Abstand gut. Überhaupt nicht scharf , klirrend oder gequetscht aber trotzdem "analytisch" sauber ohne Klangfärbung.
Externe Micros habe ich über Mic/Line Input mit einem NT5 + XVive P1 48v getestet. Sehr gutes Ergebnis. H2e Stereo und Kondensator Stützmikro ergänzen sich perfekt.
Funktioniert auch als USB-c Interface/Microphon für DJI Pocket 3, Iphone, PC.
Mein persönliches Fazit für meine speziellen Anforderungen:
Der H2e ist eine echte Ergänzung zu meinem F6. Für den Ultra Mobilen Kabellosen Einsatz sogar besser geeignet. Kabellose Chor Stütze etc.
Man muss mit der Nachbearbeitung zurecht kommen.
Es gibt jetzt einige neue Regeln: MS Plugin, 32bit Dynamik, 4 Kanal, Ambisonic oder Stereo? Vielleicht doch Mono?? Dual Mono? wtfck.
Nachtrag: Nach erstem professionellen Einsatz habe ich ein zweites H2e bestellt.
