Well-equipped all round

As a typical student model for both ambitious, discriminating beginners and advanced users alike, the Thomann Bb tuba model "Student PRO" has it all. Equipped with four piston valves, a spiral pressure mechanism, and free-moving ball joints, the tuba has the distinction of being a compact and thus student-friendly design. The bell measures 400mm in diameter and the bore 20mm, and the Thomann "Student PRO" model's moderate length of 802mm together with its manageable weight of 8.8kg make it an easy-to-handle wind instrument for covering the low end. High-quality materials are also used in its production, with the tuba featuring a gold brass leadpipe, brass inner slides, and nickel silver outer slides, while a clear lacquer finish adds the final elegant touch.

Thomann "Student PRO" Bb tuba

Hitting the right note every time

This instrument focuses on delivering a pleasurable playing experience – something that can only be achieved in conjunction with decent intonation and tuning – and is sure to impress with a good response across all registers. Courtesy of the fourth valve, more complex fingerings can also be used to balance the tone and achieve critical notes. The "Student PRO" plays cleanly and quietly, with the valves benefitting from a sufficient application of oil in order to ensure pitch-perfect notes – such as the F and A – from the very first time it is blown. The Thomann tuba prides itself on these positive attributes, which come courtesy of the high-quality workmanship but without the associated high price tag. Nevertheless, the winning feature here has to be the astonishing sound (we are talking about music, after all!), which is balanced, warm, and luxuriant, despite the tuba's compact dimensions.

A great first or backup tuba

The compact dimensions and comparatively low weight of the Thomann "Student PRO" Bb tuba make it the ideal choice for students who are not yet fully grown. Although by no means an instrument for six or eight-year-olds, the "Student PRO" can be easily mastered by adolescents and smaller adults. The tuba will make a good impression both in music schools and conservatoires, and deliver a harmonious performance in wind orchestras, military marching bands, and even in seated formations. Versatility ranks among the instrument's outstanding features, ensuring that the tubist suffers no loss or impairment of extremely valuable equipment when performing on musically accompanied raft or boat trips, at weddings, hen/stag parties, or other similarly jovial events.

About Thomann wind instruments

Thomann-brand instruments, which are exclusively built by renowned manufacturers, now constitute a large part of Thomann's product range alongside numerous big-name brands. With unbeatable price-performance ratios, Thomann wind instruments are the obvious first choice for students and beginners – and others too. The technical features and uncompromising sound quality they offer are usually reserved for much more expensive instruments found in the professional market segment.

For a melodious sound across all genres

The Thomann Bb tuba model "Student PRO" can be used across all musical genres, from traditional brass music through to Ska, Reggae, Pop, Jazz, and beyond, and is optimally balanced courtesy of the upward-facing bell – a feature which is advantageous to other orchestra or band members performing in front since their ears are not being blasted by the sound. The instrument's sound fits harmoniously into the overall picture and reliably covers the low tonal spectrum. The "Student PRO" from Thomann is an impressive instrument for brass players looking to deliver highly creative performances at an affordable price.

B
Beautiful
Brendan4702 24.11.2021
Have been on the lookout for a B-Flat Tuba while studying a degree, I needed a slightly more affordable Tuba. Thankfully, I found Thomann. I wasn't sure at first, I didn't let the overwhelming positive reviews cloud my thinking. In the end, I bought the Student Pro B-Flat Tuba, it sounds amazing and rich...

Every time I put the Tuba down I want to play it again, it is fantastically crafted, truly beautiful. The valve keys work very smoothly and feel well lubricated. It was evident the tuning slides had been greased however put some more on when it arrived.

When it came, I unboxed plenty of protective packaging, parcel came a tad later than the timeframe specified but it was only by 15 minutes but had been told between 9-3, on a pallet and I had been excited waiting for it to arrive, was finally relaxed when it did come.

I bought the bundle with all the items provided, the case came looking really impressive and professional, with a zip compartment with marching belt which looks good quality.

This is a genuine review and I have not been pressured to make it. I was amazed with the customer service I was given, constantly wishing to help. Only problem I had was to enquire about the lacquer on the Tuba, I couldn't get an English fluent speaking member of staff who was able to understand my question.

This is ok however as I feel amazed by my products I received. You deserve way more stars than I can give!!!

Bravo!

Great value and excellent free blowing low range make this a useful second instrument to have. The only issue is the strap hooks which in my opinion are useless for marching.

Naja, da musste was nachgebessert werden!
Walter L. 732 29.08.2013

Fazit:

cordialement pascal
