Dynamic Neckband Microphone

The Shure WH 20 is a rugged, lightweight, dynamic neckband microphone for high-quality voice transmission. The lightweight microphone fits securely and inconspicuously even for active users such as aerobics instructors and musicians. It is suitable for any application where comfort and reliability are required.

With its cardioid characteristic, the WH20 has a greater feedback resistance and suppresses background noise and other unwanted sound sources such as air conditioners, music instruments, or speakers. With a presence boost in the vocal range, the frequency response has been carefully adjusted and a low-pass filter prevents the proximity effect typical of cardioid characteristic microphones.

The integrated elastic CROAKIES headband ensures a comfortable and secure fit. The headband, wire frame, and gooseneck are adjustable to any head size and shape. Contents of the delivery include a foam windscreen and a clothing clip.

  • Cardioid polar pattern
  • Light wire frame and headband offer a secure, comfortable fit
  • Thin, extra strong microphone cable that resists breakage
  • Collapsible microphone boom arm for easy storage and transportation

Best dynamic headset
Maximoff 11.04.2018
I bought this headset for singin a back vocal in my band.

My firts goal was to find a dynamic headset mic, beacuse I plug it directly to my keyboard (Korg KROSS 2). And it don't suport condencer.

So, comparing it to another variants - it is the best solution. But, be sure - it won't sound like SM58. Never. Look at the size of the cartridge.
Frequency responce - like "mid EQ in pipe".
Sound can be compared with PG48, but a bit worse.

Despite this, it very good for dynamic headset. Enough for my goals.

Pros:
- Light weight, comfortable
- Price
- Useability

Cons:
- Sound. Good for headset, terrible for solo vocals.

If you need light, universal headset - this stuff for you!

Convinient solution for such needs
Anonymous 24.01.2017
Considering it's relatively mid-range prise, it sounds better than I was expecting. Compromises where made mainly on the use of materials for the neckband. It fit well on my head size as it came out of the box without having to bend it additionally. The soft material is not removable making it not very easy and practical to wash. The stitching of the fabric stays exactly over the ears where it touches the skin and feels very itchy and irritating over time.
The cable is not removable as well. Mine got snapped somewhere inside the rubber clip after about an year of use, and I haven't used it since.

Pros:
Very decent sound. Easy to setup. Lightweight

Cons:
Non removable cable and neckband cushion. May not be very comfortable to use for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

Does the job

This is my first head mic & i bought it to use for vocals at wedding cocktails , it feels ok & sounds ok for quiet singing ...its nowhere near the sound quality of an SM58 for example as a reference & wouldn't recommend it for powerful vocal work....probably more at home for talking rather than singing in my opinion.

Wonderful solution
Marco9072 12.05.2015
I was looking into shooting a sports event, in this case a rally, and I wanted a cheap option to record both the pilot and the copilot.

After doing some research, I came across this option on Thomman store.

The price was within my budget and the quality seemed good, although you can only judge by trying. And that I did when they arrived. I immediately put one on the pilot and had a test run with the Mic. Incredible performance, very clear voice and very little background noise, engine noise, etc.

I had them hooked up to an XLR equipped recorder and that was it, a great shoot with some awesome very good quality cockpit sound.

If you have something in the works that needs such an option, you should consider these.
