An absolute classic

Over the last two years, I've tried a huge amount of pickups, because I am constantly on the hunt for the ultimate tone.
Throughout the process of trying pickup over pickup, I have become a great fan of Seymour Duncan.
The SH-6 aka. the Duncan Distortion has become one of my favorites.
It has plenty of bight and grunt without getting muddy. It retains clarity even when the guitar is tuned down.
It definitely has some 80's shred mojo.

In a few (very few guitars) the Distortin tended to get a little hard to controll in the high end, though nothing one cannot fix by dialing the amp a little more carefull.

It works absolutely great with maple, by the way!

Versatile AND Brutal!
Elastic Pancakes 03.06.2014
Really awesome pickup. I purchased this with the neck version and they are an awesome combo. Very articulate tight attack for palm muted rhythm work and chug. Individual note clarity for me is a big highlight of this pickup, which really makes it excel from Metal to Blues.

The pickup is very aggressive, but not so much as to become a muddy mess. You have to be smart with your gain controls on your amp though.

Highly recommended for Metal/ Rock players who also want to delve into other distorted territory. 5 out of 5 beers!

High output, very clear and articulate sound with high and middle frequencies in the center. Outstanding work with high gain amps.
