I use this neck on my Selmer super action 80 alto (1985)
It has vastly improved the tone.
The neck was a snug fit. Once on it is very secure.
Unfortunately Selmer lacquer is not great. I had to send the first neck back because the lacquer quickly showed signs of tarnishing and discolouration in many areas. Thomann were superb and sent me a shipping label to return free of charge and sent me a new neck without hesitation.
The new neck has also developed spotting and tarnishing in some areas. This is obviously a problem with Selmer lacquer process, which is disappointing. I kept the neck because it has really helped to improve the tone and helps the saxophone sound more like a reference 54 horn.
So I would still recommend upgrading to this type of neck, just be aware it is likely to have lacquer issues.

Excellent neck

Excellent neck that fits my Reference perfectly. This is the third generation neck, which differs from the second generation only by the hinge mechanism. The new construction is slightly less massive, which gives a slightly improved response and tonal focus. Still, I returned the neck, as I found the difference with my 2nd gen too small. Also, while it did resolve some intonation problems, it gave some new ones in other registers. But all in all, if you have a broken neck or a first generation neck, I would say this replacement neck is the go-to solution.
