A
Outstanding mic
Anonymous 18.12.2015
I've bought a Schoeps CMIT-5U after I've been using quite a long, long time MKH-416 from Senn and I must say that in my opinion it sounds better and also look better with that blue finish. :) And after I have been using for some time CMIT in a variety of recording situations, typical and untypical for a shotgun and it handled excellent i think that it will remain my favorite for some long time from now. Obvious the main application remain field recording but i wouldn't mind if i will have to use it in studio on drums, for example or better on acoustic guitar where i think it is almost perfect.

It is a great mic and it worth every single dime and I am so glad I've made the choice of buyin' it.

Spectacular

I use this as a pro foley artist after using Sennheisser and Neumann for a very long time (great microphones but wanted something different). This microphone has a really nice almost compression on the high end that makes it super smooth. Tends to over cook it on the low mids sometimes but with more considerate mic placement this is not an issue for me. Noise floor is absolutely fine with a pro preamp. The quick switch buttons for EQ are invaluable to my work, they sound so much better than EQing in a desk live or in post. Not that it really matters but I love the look if it too. Recordings made with it respond really well to aggressive EQ boosts in post which is remarkable. Its got a fantastic punch to it that really carves its way through dense sound mixes.
