RCF LF18X401

Hello I'm using these speaker in 100 lt homemade subwoofer boxes driven by lab four chanell power amplifier bridged in pairs and givng 4k rms watt on each of two channells. I was afraid it was too much!! but using them for djing I still have not succeded in reaching the limit. Tons and tons of wonderfull punching deep and round bass.... really satisfying. Compared to other subs from important brands I consider them a bargain. Strongly recommended.

Initially, i've been stalking this product, maybe some one make the review of sound, quality or smth else, but no one does..

So, I decided to bought it and I get little satisfaction of the sound after replace eminence sigma 18" woofers. It's important to consider that I made box by my self and I'm not a pro with PA, but this loudspeaker deliver really clear, powerful and soft bass.
Maybe just the recommended box size (274 liters) is too big to care around.
I recommend run sub in large area. If you have parties up to 100 people it's definitely not for you, because you'll never run on full power..

Also, it absolutely helps to reinforce other PA systems in bigger events.

Running by behringer nu3000dsp (dsp allow me to cut all unnecessary frequencies and do other stuff) on bridge 25-85Hz. In future i have a dream that i'll upgrade into crown XLS 2502 or smth like this.

Due to going world conflicts, my preferred speaker manufacturer is no longer producing their top tier sub bass or line array cabinets because they can no longer get hold of Baltic Birch plywood due to sanctions imposed on the country of origin.

I've had to get creative, and approached a local joinery firm to reverse engineer my existing sub bass cabinets, re-design them in CAD software to fit hardware such as handles, wheels, etc. and export the files to operate their saws and CNC routing equipment. I've also had to acquire some alternative 18mm ply that's similar in strength, character and capability of Baltic Birch.

I spent a lot of time researching which drivers would be best suited for use in the newly built cabinets, and it was either a choice between Fane and RCF. I eventually settled on four of these RCF drivers simply because Fane were out of stock. I have no regrets, as the RCF drivers sound very good. They're missing some of the 30-40hz that the existing boxes seem to be capable of so I've had to re-introduce that with a little EQ.

In the coming months it seems likely I'll be building two more twin 18" cabinets, and when these drivers are back in stock with Thomann I'll probably purchase another four.

My only issue with these drivers is that some of the glue that attaches the driver to the basket managed to get wet at a very rainy outdoor festival in July. There was a very visible white ring around the edge where the glue had became damp. After a day of drying out, the glue ring slowly disappeared again, so my advice is to use a very fine speaker grille to catch water droplets if you intend to use these drivers for any outdoor use.
