The Radial EXTC-500 is a thing of beauty - rock solid construction, and a pristine sound that has made me experiment with guitar pedals and amps like never before, in all sorts of instruments. Piano and drums are some of my favourites. It’s not surprising that we see this in pro studios everywhere, including Dave Pensado and Vance Powell!
This 500 series module can also be used for re-amping, and using it could not be any simpler. If you don’t own the Radial 500 series rack, you can’t use the ‘Omniport’ - but it’s never hindered me. The phase reverse is surprisingly useful, and so is the blend control!
If, like me, you’re considering whether to buy this or the standalone, 2 loop unit, I chose this because I wanted to avoid the wire confusion that would inevitably ensue - my desk space is limited, and I like to keep my studio as tidy as possible. It also fits my hybrid setup a lot more neatly.
You won’t regret buying any of the Radial products. They’re top notch!

Not exactly cheap at 300+ euros for essentially a send+return path in the 500 series with dry/wet blend - but the module does exactly what it promises, with the high workmanship you are used to from Radial and with all the features you need. I use the EXTC-500 to send guitar + bass recordings that have already been recorded as a DI signal through various pedals and spice them up. No complaints (other than the price)! ;)

Hat alles was man braucht, funktioniert super.
It's incredibly useful as an interface between DAW/converters and the world of stomp boxes and other effects. Having this transition in front of you in the rack at all times is simply valuable. The barrier to finding a reamping box and wiring it up is much higher. It has everything you need and works great.

Next good Radial unitNext good Radial unit

As all my Radial units alsi this one is well built, works as supposed to and also looks good. Few years ago I sold all my pedals effects moving to studio equipment i.e. with balanced ins/outs and mostly rack units. EXTC brought pedals back to my studio. The signal gets through the pedals strong, noiseless and clean. Also typical looper can be used in this manner. Higly recommend this unit.
