I play in an acoustic folk-rock band where I play most of the rhythm on the snare drum only. For that use, i found hot rods to be too hard, and traditional brushes to be too soft. When I found these, everything clicked. The sound they produce works perfect for what I do, and I haven't found anything that matches this. I love them, and for this use I will probably never use anything else.

The downside about these are that as they are made of hay, they don't last for very long. I probably get 5-6 hours playtime out of a set, and after that they have become so flimsy that I don't use them live anymore, but they hold out for band practice some more hours.

All in all; love the sound, but sadly it gets expensive as they are not cheap and don't last very long.

Nice for an acoustic setup

These are real nice for an acoustic setup. They work lovely on snares and toms where they give you a nice full sound without any plastic attack. My only disappointment is that they are very very quiet on cymbals. Overall, nice quality, a good addition to expand your arsenal of sounds

Go for the full size large broomsticks
Anonymous 09.06.2016
Thought these would be a smart compromise between the large broomstick and brushes, but I wish I'd just paid the extra for the large ones. These are good for soft playing but almost too light too in the hands.
Have only used them rehearsing as I would not feel comfortable with these live.
Good for cymbal work and softer tom work but would be better using brushes on the snare.

These are great. They give a very inspiring variation for soft and textured playing; CERTAINLY if your just looking at brushes and grimacing because you hate them or they aren't punchy enough as a mid ground.
