It took me a while to come to terms with this to be honest, but if you look at it that you've already bought the surround controller built in to the 810G subwoofer, then it helps....
It is still a £200 volume control, and indeed one where they don't even throw in an ethernet cable - that's a bit tight imo. I bet if I opened it up, there's only a few quids worth of electronics, so come on Neumann - a 3m ethernet cable wouldn't cost you too much profit.
Build quality is good, but there is noticable volume stepping at the top end of the volume knob, especially if you move it quickly.
Overall however, it's a heck of a lot more useful than trying to control everything in software, no denying that, and for that reason, it has of course been a worthy purchase for my 5.1 system.
Well, a £200 volume control!
