An intelligent electric guitar

Front view of the Mooer GTRS Standard 801 SG electric guitar

The Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 801 SG combines the traditional design of an ST-style guitar with modern sound design options to create a true all-round performer that excels in all settings, from living rooms and rehearsal rooms to studios and stages. The use of proven woods for the body and neck of the guitar combined with high-quality pickups and hardware has enabled engineers from Mooer to develop an exceptional instrument that not only delivers a traditional guitar sound but also, courtesy of the built-in GTRS processor system, offers an array of digital tools for shaping guitar tones, thus providing effective support to users in recordings, practice sessions, and even during live streaming. The guitar features 120 built-in effects, eleven different guitar simulations, and numerous practice and learning tools, which can be used from any smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth 5.0 using the Mooer GRTS app.

Two worlds combined in one instrument

Two is always better than one – a motto that is also true of the GTRS Guitars Standard 801 SG, which combines the advantages of both digital and analogue components. The traditional guitar sound is provided by three pickups, which are selected via a five-way switch and controlled using the volume and tone knobs. Plenty of clarity is provided courtesy of the two single coils, while the humbucker in the bridge position ensures a good portion of punch, particularly when using overdrive/distortion sounds. The roasted maple neck ensures a comfortable playing experience and also features a roasted maple fingerboard with a 12" radius, 21 jumbo frets, and a streamlined bone nut. The solid hardware includes a two-point vintage vibrato and six modern-style machine heads, which keep the instrument reliably in tune.

The GTRS system

The GTRS system, featuring over 100 effects, guitar simulation technology, and an array of tools, offers an extensive range of digital sound options. In addition to classic effects such as chorus, delay, and distortion, the system also offers acoustic guitar simulations and other special effects, which can all be adjusted as required via the GTRS app following connection to a mobile phone or tablet. The GTRS control knob on the guitar's control panel can be used to store and access up to four presets as well as other functions. Even greater control over the available GTRS system options is provided courtesy of the optionally available GWF4 footswitch, which lends itself perfectly to live performances, while the USB OTG socket, which is located together with the jack connection on the lower edge of the guitar, provides the ideal setup for live streamers.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

For advanced guitarists and ambitious beginners alike

The huge range of analogue and digital sounds and practical tools made available by the Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 801 SG will not only be appreciated by guitarists who value a high degree of sound flexibility spanning the rehearsal room to the stage, but also by ambitious beginners looking to make effective and enjoyable learning gains while playing the guitar. The GTRS system is easily controlled via an app, while the ten-hour operating life provided by the built-in battery ensures that the guitarist is optimally prepared for extended live gigs or an extensive session involving headphones!

Amazing guitar

Very good guitar. Even without presets its a very good guitar with a good price. The app needs improvement, such as switching tone places.

Edit after 3 months : Guitar break too much string, nearly one string at gig. I am going to change all bridge and other things related to strings and see. Other than this, everything works fine.

Bought this as I also own Variax guitars and this looked like value for money coupled with great versatility and modelling.
The inclusion of a looper and drum machine is fantastic for practising.
Worked great straight out of the box and the foot pedal is a must in my opinion.
Only downside was I contacted Mooer customer service with a query and received nothing from them.

Quelle belle surprise
