An intelligent electric guitar

The Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 800 SB combines the traditional design of an ST-style guitar with modern sound design options. The use of proven woods for the body and neck of the guitar combined with high-quality pickups and hardware has enabled Mooer to develop an exceptional instrument that not only delivers a classic guitar sound but also, courtesy of the built-in GTRS processor system, offers an array of digital tools for shaping guitar tones, to aid in recording, practice sessions, and even live streaming. The guitar features 120 effects, eleven different guitar simulations, and numerous practice and learning tools that can be controlled from any smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth using the Mooer GTRS app. The guitar also comes with a matching gig bag.

Two worlds combined in one instrument

Two is always better than one – a motto that is also true of the GTRS Guitars Standard 800, which combines the advantages of both digital and analogue components. The traditional guitar sound is provided by three pickups, which are selected via a five-way switch and controlled using the volume and tone knobs. Plenty of clarity is provided courtesy of the two single coils, while the humbucker in the bridge position ensures a good portion of punch, particularly when using overdrive/distortion sounds. The roasted maple neck ensures a comfortable playing experience, while the accompanying rosewood fingerboard features a 12" radius, 21 jumbo frets, and a streamlined bone nut. The solid hardware includes a two-point vintage vibrato and six modern-style machine heads, which keep the instrument in tune.

The GTRS system

The GTRS system, featuring over 100 effects, guitar simulation technology, and an array of tools, offers an extensive range of digital sound options, which can all be adjusted as required via the GTRS app following connection to a mobile phone or tablet. In addition to classic effects such as chorus, delay, and distortion, the system also offers acoustic guitar simulations and other special effects. The GTRS control knob can be used to store and access up to four presets as well other functions. Even greater control over the GTRS system is provided courtesy of the GWF4 footswitch, which is available as an optional extra and lends itself perfectly to live performances, while the USB OTG socket, which is located together with the jack connection on the lower edge of the body, provides the ideal setup for live streamers.

For advanced guitarists and ambitious beginners alike

The huge range of analogue and digital sounds and practical tools made available by the Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 800 SB not only make it suitable for guitarists who value sound flexibility, but also for ambitious beginners looking to make effective and pleasurable learning gains while playing the guitar. The GTRS system is easily controlled via an app, while a battery life of up to ten hours ensures that the guitarist is optimally prepared for extended live gigs or an extensive session involving headphones.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

App-based operation

The three pickups and digital sound system featured on the Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 800 combine to create a classic sound, which not only renders other effects superfluous, but ensures that guitarists will always have the right sound at their fingertips, regardless of whether they are practising or jamming at home, producing recordings, or performing at a live gig. The Mooer GTRS Guitars Standard 800 also comes with numerous tone-shaping options and a range of useful tools. The beauty of these functions lies in their simplistic operation and control via the Mooer GTRS app, which is available to users for both iOS and Android devices. The GFW4 pedal is also recommended for rapid toggling between settings.

Great on all fronts
Philisac 03.03.2022
Except for battery life which I cannot estimate at this time (just got it), this guitar is great on all fronts.
First, the packing was awesome (not counting Thomann's extra layers), and it comes with a nice grey gigbag (that does seem somewhat thin but don't ask too much).
Second, the guitar itself is great: light for a strat type, smooth neck, no manufacturing issue that I coud see. Frets are really good for this price. As I have seen somewhere else in a review, the tuning heads are indeed cheap looking and feeling, but they do the job for now. Remained in tune after extended playing and overnight.
The blue colour I got is really great, a bit like the Fender 'Miami Blue' is lighter.
FInally, the core of the toy: the built-in effects. This is of course the reason I bought this in the first place. Honestly they sound good to me. Only small downside is the clean-reverb tone which seems murky compared to the 'effects off' tone (through a pedal in this case). But the heavy sounds really rock, I like it.
There is a serious volume boost with the effect knob engaged, you have to watch out for that.
You can plug headphones in directly, which is great (of course it only works with the effects engaged, not on the 'guitar only'). I also got the GWF4 for wireless footswitch control but I did not test it yet since this is a 'brand new guitar' review/impression.
I have only one thing to conclude: good buy, recommended for playing effects without the extra gear. Would buy again. May I get another colour ;)

R
Very attractive and innovative guitar
Rhymebeg 31.07.2022
Even without GTRS modeling software this guitar is very well built and can be used along with Amplitube or any other simulation hardware or software. Original tone(modeling and power are off) is good with external DI and guitar combo amplifier. Pickup selector has 5 positions like in Strat guitars. Strings stay in tune for a long time. Tremolo works good. Andriod APP have 11 guitar presets(GTRS, Strat, Tele, LP, ...) that can be choosen by bluetooth and kept in the guitar. All tones are authentic and useful. Moreover you can choose between 40 amp presets from smartphone. Some of them are usefull, some not usefull at all because of too long reverb time for example. You cannot edit presets, so when in manual you read about 51 amp models you cannot choose it separately(only 40 presets with delay, reverb preprogrammed in it). 10 separate groups of 4 presets(0A,0B,0C,0D, 1A... - 9A,9b,9C,9D) can be assigned to guitar Superknob for selection in loop by 4 when guitar is powered on without smartphone. Android application requires login to open/store presets but it is not understood where you need to register for it. Manual is very limited. Nevertheless it is very well built beautifull and comfortable guitar for practice at home and for small gigs. I bought it for my daughter 14y.o. and she is happy to change presets in Amplitube 5 and playing different songs.

B
Klasse Gitarre für den technikaffinen Einsteiger
Barracuda72 31.07.2022
