Kemper Profiler Stage

The Kemper profiling technique allows the creation of a very precise sonic image (profile) of an existing amplifier configuration (including cabinet and microphone pickup). Thanks to the many internal processing options such as various ground effect emulations (up to 4 at a time), master effects, equaliser, gain, amp definition, power sagging etc., the sound created can then be processed far beyond the possibilities of the original amplifier. However, the Kemper Profiling Amplifier is also already delivered with a large number of outstanding amplifier profiles, which is why it is not absolutely necessary to create your own profiles. This makes it possible from the first time to exactly reproduce the sound of your own amplifier, to modify it (if desired) and to have it available for practising, in the studio or on stage without a lot of lugging around.

  • Combination of Kemper Profiler guitar amplifier and Profiler Remote foot controller in one pedalboard

The new generation of guitar amplifiers!

For a long time now, many guitar amp manufacturers have been on a quest to pack the sound of the world’s most legendary amplifiers into a single unit – none of them with any real success until, in 2012, Kemper opened a new chapter in amp history with its Profiling Amplifier. Since then, the entirely new and unique “profiling” technology has allowed the sound of any desired amplifier to be recorded with a microphone and then further edited and shaped to suit the player’s taste – in other words, the sounds of the world’s most legendary amplifiers can now be combined. The Kemper’s high-performance electronics and high-quality DSP effects, extensive routing options, wide selection of cab and microphone models, and intuitive user interface – styled after that of a real guitar amplifier – let you revive these legendary sounds, enhance them with contemporary features, and store them permanently.

A Kemper amp in a floorboard format

The Kemper Profiler Stage delivers the Kemper concept in a floorboard version and is also the newest addition to the Kemper family. The search for that perfect amplifier finally ends here thanks to Kemper’s patented profiling technology, which not only gives guitarists countless amp models at their fingertips – it also lets them directly record and preserve the sonic characteristics of any amplifier they want: In other words, the boundaries of flexibility have now been completely re-drawn. Innumerable other digital editing options, which include substituting different speaker or cabinet types for the one used in the original recording, adding high-quality effects, and a wide variety of internal and external connection and routing possibilities make the Kemper Profiler Stage without a doubt one of the most flexible guitar amplifiers on the market.

An ultra-flexible floorboard for tone-chasers with pro aspirations

The Kemper Profiler Stage comes in a stage-ready floorboard format and is ready for whatever challenges are in store, so there can be no doubt that this is a thoroughly professional piece of equipment. Fans of old vintage treasures can now harness the sound and characteristics of the originals – which are usually ruinously expensive and often very rare. This powerhouse amp will delight tone-chasers and sound nerds alike with its extensive range of features and win over recording musicians with its impressive connectivity, which allows it to replace numerous guitar amps in the studio and ultimately save everyone a large amount of time and effort when it comes to cabling and miking.

About Kemper Amps

German firm Kemper Amps, or rather its founder Christoph Kemper, is no stranger to the music industry. His very first product, the virtual-analogue Access Virus synthesizer, was far ahead of its time and brought the company both unexpected success and an impressive reputation within the music profession. Continuing the momentum of this success, the company then developed the “Profiler” technology, which allows an astonishingly realistic reproduction of the sound of a miked amplifier to be made and thus represents the dawn of a new era in digital amplifier simulation. This technology is currently available in different variants of the Kemper Profiler system: As a basic head, as a top with a powerful Class-D power amp integrated, as a rack-mountable unit, and even as a floorboard.

The Profiler Stage is up for anything

Whether it’s in the studio, running through a power amp and cabinet(s) as part of your backline on stage, or in your living room for some quiet practice, the Kemper Profiler Stage’s outstanding flexibility provides a new level of potential that knows no limits other than those of the player’s imagination. The pedal’s extensive connectivity is by no means limited to a handful of outputs for a power amp. Those are of course included, but more interesting still are the digital interfaces – which include an S/PDIF input and output and two USB outputs – since these make it easy to record the Profiler Stage’s signal to a DAW with zero loss in the studio. The Kemper Profiler Stage comes with presets of many of the best amplifiers of all time already installed, however, so your quest for the perfect tone can begin right away.

In the spotlight: Profiling

In fundamental terms, the Kemper Profiler is primarily a highly specialised measuring device which, by means of a complicated algorithm, is capable of precisely replicating the tonal characteristics of a signal chain. Generally, this chain first and foremost includes the amplifier that is to be emulated, the cabinet to which this is connected, and the microphone that is placed in front of it. This standard setup can additionally be expanded by adding pedals, which can also be profiled as part of the chain if desired. An „amp only“ profile can of course be created, however, by connecting the amplifier to a DI box instead of a conventional speaker cabinet. To determine the characteristics of the individual signal chain, the Kemper then sends various measurement signals through the amplifier that is connected, on the basis of which it then creates a so-called “profile” – which even professional musicians have difficulty in distinguishing from the original in terms of sound and dynamics. The user can subsequently customise this profile by fine-tuning a range of different parameters before naming and saving it. In this way, players can archive their entire amplifier collection virtually without restriction and take it with them to gigs and into the studio.

Almost perfect

I'm gonna go ahead and skip to the negatives straight away because there are only a few. The rest are positive and in general, I totally recommend this product.

1) Some glitches here and there that are always getting fixed by the kemper team with software version updates. This makes the profiler a bit unreliable in live situations but the longer this product is being released the fewer glitches will exist. Onward and upward.
2) The handling of the Rig Manager is weird. While the profiler is very easy to use and change things on the fly, its software is one of the worst. Many times I am saving rigs at the wrong place and losing rigs by mistake or thinking that I saved some rigs and it ends up I didn't. This did not happen once or twice. It is the way the rig manager works. This makes me want to use the actual stage profiler instead of the software because it is more user-friendly than the actual software. I am patiently waiting the kemper team for fixings on the software keeping in mind the ease of use.

Other than that the stage profiler is perfect. User-friendly with big enough HUD to be able to navigate through different screens, sturdy built and great sound quality, and I love its looks as well.

As I said before this is the only downsides to this magnificent product. I recommend it to every guitarist and maybe even bass players, but I haven't checked the bass sounds so I don't really know

Stunning in every way!!!
METALALEX 26.02.2023
A very high quality made device that has all the features that a guitarist needs to realize their sound.

Amplifiers: A huge number of amplifiers and the ability to change the cabinet can help you achieve the desired tone and of course subtlety of the amp settings to bring everything to the ideal for any guitar and style. (Play with definition and clarity settings in Amp section)

Effects and stomps: Post and pre effects sound great, and being able to arrange them however you want allows the fantasy to run wild.

The input and output settings will help you fine-tune the volume in live performances and in the studio. The input sensitivity setting is ideal for your playing style and diffirent pickups on your guitar.

Software: Rig Manager will perfectly help you to set up your presets from your device (PC or IOS)
The only thing that can cause inconvenience here is that there is no support for Android but on PC Windows 10 or higher.
Everything else is very cool!

If someone chooses between other devices, I can say one thing, you won’t go wrong with it) Yes, you can’t build a chain here like Axe FX or Quad cortex, but here the choice is yours what is your priority!
This is big world of guitar sound for you! Just enjoy)

I was using an analog setup before. I wanted to buy this equipment for both recording and stage performances as it sounds good and is easy. Although I didn't know how to use it at first, I later realized how valuable the equipment I had was actually. I would also like to thank especially Ertuğrul Güney and the Thomann family for taking care of me in every order.

The profiler is amazing for live and studio situations. The quality is good but not what i expected for this price tag. I had to send it back because it was faulty from the factory. I hope the one they send back is ok. Other than that it is the best one i've tried so far. I recommend it 100%
