Not bad for a last minute choice
Eppie 07.01.2018
I needed strings for my Acoustic bass and didn't have a lot to spend. As you know bass strings are for some reason way more expensive than regular guitar strings. Anyway, it was a great choice, I have used these strings for a couple months now and they are still holding some brightness. I will buy more.
Pros- low cost, sounds great, holds brightness, can use several months without needing to change.
At this moment I can't think of any cons.

no problem, amazing pricing.

I don't change strings very often, but it needs to happen every now and then. This string set is much better than some unknown brand strings set that sometimes comes with a cheap instrument, and the pricing is THE BEST.
which point can you complain about?
If you are the kind of person who can only be satisfies with something like Optima gold strings(which I love very much), you wouldn't have been reading this.

m
good set esp for the money
maartenaerts 04.09.2020
Use it on a HB-850 bass. (Great for home, has to be amplified with other guitars) Not the same as the oem set. The set sounds to me quite the same as the fender acc set. Bit less zingy but keeps the same sound for some time now, incl. two long rehearsals. E string is a bit thin looking, but sound might be affected because I still have to do the piezo fix (move to the left or shim it a little, look it up). For the price I really can't complain, and no reason to keep old rusty dead strings ;)

Bassic Strings

What do ypou expect? I mean - really?
Bass strings are expensive and we can all agree, that a cheap-as-chips set of strings like tis one can not bee the bees knees.

But, the question still is .. are they bad?

And frankly, no! The HB Valuestrings are perfectly useable strings for an acoustic bass. SUre, they do not uncoil as snappily as D'Addario or Elixirs, they sure don't last as long as Elixirs, but give the price, it's good value for money.

And "value for money" is what those strings describe best. They are value strings for the average value bass player. If you are a professional, you will have your own personal preference, but for amateurs or "sometimes for fun" players like me - my bass hangs spends 90% of the year on the stand - those strings are perfectly good. Sure, they don't have the snap and the bite of D'Addarios and they don't last half as long as Elixirs, but if all you need is some string to play along, they are just good enough. I mean, c'mon, ther last set of - expensive - Elixirs lasted as long as the Value Strings. The remander of the time, they happily corroded along.

I know, the picture will change if you are an active player, if you look for dynamic strings, if you play regularily ... sure it will. But not all of us are professionals and not all of us play daily and for me, the convenience of being able to just slap on a fresh set of strings when needed for as little money as Thomann calls up for those - without breaking the bank - is paramount.

So, given the price and the value, it's a "thumbs up!"
