15-watt lunchbox head with gritty tube tone

The popularity of so-called “lunchbox amps“ is increasing all the time – which should come as no surprise, since these compact amplifiers boast a range of features to rival those of their larger counterparts whilst taking up only a fraction of the space. Harley Benton now presents the Mighty-15TH, a compact powerhouse that fits squarely into this category and guarantees authentic tube tone thanks to its class-A all-tube circuitry. What is more, its 15-watt output means it bridges the gap between living room, rehearsal room, and smaller stages. The Mighty-15TH comes in a robust metal housing and features a three-band EQ section, Gain and Volume controls, an additional Boost switch, and a power reduction switch that allows the amp’s output power to be roughly halved. To make it look even cooler, this amp also has an indicator tube prominently placed behind its front panel, which displays the preamp’s status and gain level by varying in brightness.

Get the tone you want in no time flat

The preamp stage of the Mighty-15TH features two 12AX7 tubes and can cover everything from glassy cleans through to punchy overdrive, all served up with a tube amp’s characteristic open and dynamic tone through whatever speakers are connected. The Boost switch provides an extra portion of gain, while the three-band EQ is highly effective in shaping the amp’s tone to suit the characteristics of the instrument being played. With its top-mounted metal carrying handle and four rubber feet, the Mighty-15TH is easy to transport and can be set down gently, and its rear panel features three outputs suitable for both 8-ohm and 16-ohm speakers, allowing various different cabinet types to be connected. The option of reducing the power stage’s output from 15 to 7 watts is also a very practical feature which allows you to enjoy true power amp saturation from the two EL84 tubes at lower volume levels.

All-tube tone on a budget

The Mighty-15TH comes at the kind of affordable price that customers have come to expect from Harley Benton, making it perfect for beginners looking to enjoy all the benefits of a real all-tube amp right from the start as well as for advanced players who need a second amp either for home use or for rehearsals and small jam sessions. Thanks to its ease of operation, this single-channel amp lets you dial in a wealth of great tones in next to no time – from clear and warm to hard and heavy – and the three-band EQ section makes fine-tuning your sound child’s play.

Forget the cost, this is a fantastic little valve amp. Sounds great to my ears. If you factor in the cost, it's kind of unbelievable.
The only thing I'm not keen on is the indicator valve. It makes it look a little gimmicky, but other than that, awesome. It's going to be my emergency spare when the world gets back to allowing live music. And something to play with at home.

Q
Best head for small studio
Quonik 24.12.2023
Bought that head and G412A cab for my studio.
The head is 15 watts and with my new cabinet included it satisfies all my needs! it is very important that I did it wrong, I did not take into account the resistance of the cabinet and head, so I advise everyone who purchases to pay attention to how to correctly connect the head to the cabinet and also buy a vocal cable in advance to connect them. the head has the basic most necessary functions - a built-in equalizer (bass, mid, high tones), a drive switch, an effects loop, a jack for a foot switch and others. also due to the size, if you buy this head and let’s say a Harley Benton G412 cabinet, then there will be a place for the things a guitarist needs such as picks, slides, capos, and at your own risk, your favorite bottle of beer! ;)

BM
A total monster of an amp deal for any arsenal!
Beano Man 02.09.2022
I tried this amp, because, although I'd never heard of Thomann or this amp, it was rated tops in a listing of bargain small amps, which I had been seeking of several, but often striking out. Thomann hit this one out of the ballpark! I sounds fantastic for anyone wanting a bonafide tube amp high-gain type of sound---and that's just what I'd been seeking.

Blues Junior Killer!
Stephen6002 09.05.2022
WOW! What an amplifier! Just add an overdrive pedal and some delay/reverb and it sings! Plenty loud enough to compete with a live drummer and when you hit the overdrive pedal it's almost organic (or something that sounds like it!). Almost.......

UPDATE:
I sold this to a mate and ordered another one. On arrival, the Chinese output EL84 valves red plated and lit up like fireworks so I switched it off immediately before any damage was done. A return was accepted by Thomann. I have recently bought another one as "B" stock and it is just as good as the original one that I bought. This one has JJ branded EL84s so suspect that the original valves suffered the same fate or they just fit better valves now.
Yet again, it arrived without a UK compatible mains lead.
