It works

Install guide is not the best, but guitar works. A little bit low quality, I expected more. The filler applied on the guitar wood body does not allow easy customized painting.
But in overall it is a perfect tool to learn electric guitar. My 11year old daughter will use it.

Basic Construction Kit
Aris Panag 28.09.2021
This kit includes just about everything that you need to build your own "Stratocaster" copy guitar. Although the body and neck manufacturing quality and woods are good, be aware that some (most) of the components & accessories are of low quality. The are absolutely basic to get you going. In case you need it for a nice base to build your own guitar you will have to upgrade most of the components, such as pickups, keys, tremolo bridge.. BUT cannot complain for the price - this is what you get for a fraction of the price of a finished guitar.

Quality control

String heads get stuck in the tremelo block.. To save time and frustration of an exchange, I made some modifications for string removal by using 'pop rivets' pressed in the string hole of the trem-block and then knocking out the pin. This reduced the size of the string hole preventing the string heads from getting stuck in the block .
Pickups are noisy, even with shielding paint in the cavities and shielding under the pick guard.

I really wasn't expecting much from this cheap guitar. I repair pedals and amps and only needed something for testing them....

Nice way to practice building own guitars

All the parts on the set are quite cheap build and you can feel it in the end result, but if you’re not planning to record yourself playing or play live shows its more than enough

Nice DIY kit
zoundfreak 03.09.2021
I purchased two of these kits for my kids. We built them together. All parts were included and build quality was ok. All frets were too long and super sharp. A little sanding was required before painting. The overall sound was good enough for my kids. They love their own guitars.

Features: On the body of the guitar there is a small knot but clearly visible. There are some discoloration on the fretboard , some parts are light brown in colour and some are nearly black. Overall the guitar looks nice and works good.
Sound: Guitar plays very nicely, good sounding.
Overall this product is very nice, and not hard to assemble. I would recommend this product for anyone who wants to start their journey with making their own guitars.

Good with a bit of work
peripherylover 05.11.2019
There were some poorly routed holes
There's alot of fretbuzz higher up the neck
Those are the only problems the electronics work fine and sounds fine as well.
So a great project guitar for learning to work on your own instruments

'Pretend to be a Luthier' Kit
Anonymous 26.10.2014
I bought this kit as a mess around/throw away project to keep me entertained whilst waiting for exam results. As per usual, Thomann's delivery service was fantastic, prompt and easy to track the entire way.

Whilst the cost of this kit is truely great value, do bear in mind that you'll have to spend at least another £50 on sprays, lacquers, primers, paint, wet and dry paper, more spray for when you do it wrong etc IF you want to do this well.
But it would work out of the box in the plain finish if desired.

Also bear in mind, the basic DIY skills advertised are stretched to what I would consider pretty advanced IF you want to do it to a high standard.

All in all, for the price paid this kit is a great way to get to know the basic components of an electric guitar. Even if it goes horribly wrong, it's a great experience and worth trying again! I'll be getting another.

Great as DIY project
Tamm 13.10.2020
Everything is included, but the build quality is quite poor, i.e. gaps between neck and body etc. But you get what you pay for. Still had fun with building and painting it.

In the end, took it apart and used the neck to make "shovel guitar" and made a lamp out of the body. Still had much fun!

Okay overall, but cheap in both senses of the word.
Anonymous 04.04.2016
It's a cheap kit, so you get what you pay for. The parts are cheap, so is the sound, but you can make a functional personalised electric guitar out of it. If luthiership is something you have an interest in, this is a great place to start. Of if you're looking for cheap parts for an experimental build, this would be worth looking at.
