Plenty of features, but lacking warmth
Harald Berings 11.06.2025
It provides a stable signal and allows you to fine tune your sound. It has plenty of options in terms of EQ and compression, and has a clear tuner on board. The boost is handy when creating loops.
What it doesn’t do, however, is make the piezo sound of the guitar warmer and more ‘analog’. There are some sharp digital tones that I don’t like. I ended up replacing this with the Align Session pedal by LR Baggs which offers a saturation that makes your acoustic sound much warmer through a PA.

E
Good sounding preamp, lacking some necessary things
EsatE 21.06.2021
I use it with the doublebass equipped with Fishman Fullcircle. The preamp really improved the amplified sound; EQ is voiced perfectly, really warm and clear tones. Low-cut/phase/notch/parametric mid really help against feedback in the usual loud settings I play. Compressor is nice and light, boost works really cleanly. Tuner is clearly visible and accurate.
Effects loop works good. After years of hauling my amp everywhere, I'm happy just to bring the Platinum Pro with me and use whatever PA or bass amp that's on offer at the venue. You will get a good sound with this unit no matter what.
Lacking:
- DI out sounds good but the output is too hot and loud, and it really is lacking a dedicated level/volume control.
- Tuner runs only while muted. Pity that it can't run at all times.
- Locations of jack inputs are not to my liking. Cables get in the way.

I
good product - tricky to use
Igharib 30.09.2018
I am using this with my upright bass and my fender precision bass.
first for upright: it is definitely useful specially that you can cancel feedback from it . in terms of control, it has a ton of feature ( too many buttons for me ) but definitely has many usable sounds but need a lot of experimentation as it is not straight forward i think.
no cons really when using upright bass , except the fact that theres, deliberately , no volume control when using as DI. well ... otherwise , you just need time to experiment.
when using the P-bass, i didn't love it , it doesnt harm but it didnt see how it adds. that probably because i expected more to the extent that i would be able to make my Pbass sound like an active bass or a possible better slapping sound but it wouldnt do that ( analog preamp!) heard it can make an active sound passive though - didnt try .

I would buy it for upright. and for recording with upright.
