Electro Harmonix Analogizer

52

Effect Device for Electric Guitar and Electric Bass

Electro Harmonix has been known for decades due to its innovative and favourable guitar effects. With the analogizer they have once again developed something new, which - surprisingly - should make it sound "old".

When digital effects became affordable in the 1980s, many analog pedals landed on the siding. Meanwhile, however, they have since long experienced their renaissance and most pedalboards offer analogue distortion, phaser and others in addition to digital delays, etc. For many, however, the clean, precise sound of the digital features is even too cold, clean and precise; therefore the term "analogue warm" is now a quality mark for pedals of all kinds. On the other hand, one does not want to go without the possibilities of modern features.

Before you buy new pedals, you should definitely at least for once to hang an analogizer behind your digital boxes. With a Gain boost, which can deliver a warm distortion in the higher range, and a controllable short delay, the sound is precisely reproduced by the warm, analogue parts, which the digital effects (even in Bypass mode!) elude.

More fuzz?
Anonymous 10.11.2014
As a bass player, I'd spent a long time looking for a pedal to add a little hair and warmth to my tone but not full distortion or fuzz. The EHX Analogizer is the perfect weapon for that. The amount of hair it adds is variable, along with the blend and overall output level. The spread knob not only adds a little delay, but changes the tone noticeably. All in all, well worth the money; and it's EHX so it's built like a tank. A permanent resident of my pedalboard :D

Nice sounding pedal
Troy B. 11.10.2013
This pedal creates a nice sounding effect that goes well with other pedals on my board. It can really add some depth and interesting tone to a pedal board. I put a keyboard through it and got some great distorted sounds as well. I Would say this pedal is a bit hard to describe other than it has a very special sound that enhances other pedals and effects very well. I also used it as a neutral distortion pedal and it works for some songs. Its the kind of pedal that you would leave on under everything to add a special feel to your music that is closer to analog than digital. Good pedal.

Warm up for winter
Anonymous 16.12.2015
Bought the Analogizer for warming up my digital keyboards mainly. It's not bad for that being like 2 pedals in one with a slight overdrive an a short delay unit. Soundwise it cuts some of the high end spectrum and compresses a little. The delay (spread) is very short probably up to 50ms all the way up. When it's on and the mix knob is past 12 o'clock you start loosing the original sound and only hear the repeat so i't kinda like having a lag. The drive is very subtle but it's what I wanted because it would mess up my sound if it introdused distorted sound.
pros: cheap, kind of does what it's supposed to do, nice artwork
cons: the mix knob useless after 12 o'clock if the delay is used.

I used this pedal with the bass.
The drive is not natural at high gain.
Therefore, the pedal cannot be used as an OD.
And one problem.
In certain settings for spreads and blends, there was a section where the volume was reduced like a dead spot.
The main purpose is basically a booster, and the spread effect with a feeling between reverb and echo is additive.
This pedal cannot be used to achieve special effects with extreme settings. When making a board with a small number of configurations, it will fall out of priority.
