The 4038 is very sensitive for vibration. This connection doesn't do wonders, but it does reduce vibration a lot opposed to the standard version. It's definitely worth the extra money. It will save you a lot of hassle.

Worthy investment

If you are investing is a 4038, it's well worth the extra money to get these mounts. The Coles don't actually come with mic stand mounts in the box, so you either have to hang them with elastic, or buy one of these.

Solid design and very effective, well worth the price.

Shock mount works well for tracking drum kits using the 4038 as overheads; sufficient isolation and gets great results, worth using to track vocals as well. My only problem with the 4072 is that its fairly expensive and would be amazing if it shipped with 4038's, as its a necessary purchase to get the most out of the mic.
