Believe the Hype

If you are like me you probably only started hearing about Celestion Creambacks when you were on the cusp of buying the Marshall DSL40c but were unsure if it was worth the buy. Scroll through any review page of the amp and I will guarantee ya within the first 10 reviews someone will have mentioned swapping out the stock for a Creamback to give it the edge it needs and get rid of some of its fizziness. Fortunately I'm not very original and like many others I followed that advice and haven't looked back since.

The main difference between the stock 70/80 and the Creamback seems to be definition from what I can tell. While the stock speaker produced a decent sound, the Creamback is definitely sharper, and clearer. It has more Middle which shapes the guitar sound a lot better. Listening back to before and after recordings I made (amp settings untouched), single note arpeggios are definitely a lot more defined and audible compared to that of the stock. Honestly I couldn't put the guitar down for 3 hours after the swap because the sound I was getting was just on another scale. For many though the difference may be one of those you only get from playing and not necessarily listening so you may have to try it for yourself to see. Either way I',m happy I made the swap

Excellent sound

Goes well with open cabs and amps with a lot of headroom.
I paired it with a Victory V40 and sounds amazing, quick transients and solid bass response.

Classic sounding and great swap for a DSL40C

This speaker makes my DSL really GROWL like a classic Marshall. If you are not really happy with the stock seventy-80 this is definitely the mod you want to do to this amp.

It was worth every cent, switching my stock celestion seventhy-80 for this, finally my amp sounds like I wanted it to sound, the sound of true rock'n'roll, never sizzely nor low boom.
