D
Disappointing noisy pedal
Dub77 10.07.2020
I bought this pedal as a replacement for the boss CS3 compression sustain that I has been using, because although the CS3 was perfect, I figured I should get a compressor that is designed specifically for bass and as its also made by Boss, i thought that the LMB3 would be perfect... when I took it out of the box, I was happy, its built to the usual boss high standard, although, compared to almost all their other pedals, the colours and writing on this are not very defined and can be quite hard to see...This in itself is not a big deal.
Where the real disappointment kicked in is when i plugged it in.. there is a noisy enough hiss from the pedal when it is switched on. Im really disappointed with this as I use isolated power blocks on my board and its usually really quiet.. with the CS3 it was perfect.
The effect of the pedal is ok, but, I feel like it was a waste of money as I find myself going back to my Cs3 which id hoped to use only on my guitar rig instead of my bass rig.

Pros.. if you get past the hissing sound, it does balance the bass tones
Cons.. a hissing noisy reminder that the Boss Cs3 is a better pedal.

C
Boss quality and performs well.

I bought the limiter/enhancer to serve 2 purposes. Firstly, to brighten up the sound of my bass guitar and secondly to keep the overall output levels under control.
If you start using this unit your band's sound engineer will be your new best friend. No matter how hard you now play, your output will be under control.
The setup is very easy and the manual is very clear.
I particularly like the enhancer as it just lifts the overall bass sound produced. I leave the unit on all the time in my pedal board to do its job. Thank you Boss.
