Headphones with Tesla driver technology

The DT 1770 Pro is a pair of closed-back headphones designed by beyerdynamic for studio and monitoring applications. Like its open-back counterpart, the DT 1990 Pro, the 1770 is also equipped with Tesla driver technology. This delivers a powerful and detailed sound reproduction that is free of distortion even at higher output levels. The DT 1770 Pro comes with a number of accessories: In addition to a second pair of leatherette ear pads, two different cables are included (a 3m straight cable and a 5m coiled cable), a 6.3mm screw-thread adapter, and a hard case for safe transport.

Great spatial sound reproduction and a solid bass response

Despite its design, the DT 1770 Pro boasts a remarkably good representation of spatial acoustics. Particularly noteworthy are the detailed high frequency, the precise impulse response, and the exceptionally solid bass reproduction. The Tesla 2.0 drivers produce a high-resolution sound and their enhanced level of efficiency is particularly advantageous in noisy environments - in live monitoring situations, for example. The DT 1770 Pro's cable is connected on one side via a mini-XLR connector. The nominal impedance of 250 ohms is comparatively high. Nevertheless, there is nothing to stand in the way of high-volume playback - even when the DT 1770 Pro is connected to mobile devices.

Comfy headphones for pros

In addition to a top-quality sound, the DT 1770 Pro headphones are very comfortable to wear and prevent the onset of fatigue even after long periods of use. The interchangeable ear pads fit perfectly thanks to the padded headband made of spring steel with its optimised contact pressure. The earpads are made of velour and artificial leather and may be used in a variety of different environments. This makes the DT 1770 Pro very comfortable to wear, even during longer studio sessions or live events. The DT 1770 Pro is thus also a wonderful tool for all technicians, musicians, and producers who need to perform on a daily basis.

About beyerdynamic

beyerdynamic was founded in Berlin in 1924 as a manufacturer of cinema loudspeakers. In 1937, Eugen Beyer developed the DT 48, the first set of dynamic headphones, followed two years later by the M 19 dynamic microphone. After the Second World War, the company moved to Heilbronn, Germany, and now also has a US subsidiary with headquarters in Farmingdale, New York. beyerdynamic's most popular products traditionally include headphones and microphones for both live and studio use, and the company also has a strong presence in the consumer and conference technology sectors as well as in the field of installation microphones, interpreter consoles, and tour guide systems.

Professional monitoring and high-end sound at home

The DT 1770 Pro is an excellent choice for professional monitoring - both live and in the studio. Thanks to its closed-back design, ambient noise is extremely well damped, and the included leatherette ear pads provide an even higher insulation value if need be. Its reproduction will please everyone with its punchy bass response and also makes any mix seem more powerful. These features will also make it a top choice for recreational use: Whether it's for tuning out everything but the sound of your favourite band on a the daily commute or at home in your armchair for high-end listening pleasure.

I don't swap them for any other.
dek123 24.04.2020
These headphones have really honest and detailed sound, yeah, yeah, that's true. My first product with 'Made in Germany' under the logo. The quality of all materials used in DT-1770 feels fantastic, so as I expected.
I like to use them in my home studio when I work with vocals (tuning, adding some saturation, and other magics). I have not so good near field monitoring, especially in high frequencies, and now DT's really helps with detailed work on highs of my mixes.
The headphones perfectly protect from outside noise and do not make any noise when I put on it, so I can work without troubling my family. The large frequency range of these headphones allows to work out with the lowest lower frequency, and I don't need to twist the volume or come up with any other tricks to hear the details. It's fantastic.
The only thing I could say negative about these earphones. It's not super comfortable wearing them for more than a couple of hours. It's too tight and a little heavy for me to wear phones all day. That's it, all minuses I could find.
About the package contents. Two high-quality cables and 3-pin XLR connectors are really good, but I loved spiral cable the most. Immediately replaced the earpads with leather ones that came in the box, and now I'm absolutely happy.
Definitely it's my perfect studio earphones for a long, long time. I don't think I'll ever want to swap them for any other.

Sounds great, but the quality of the parts did not meet expectations
Alfuros 25.08.2023
I've bought these as what I was hoping would be a direct upgrade for my Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X.

It was an upgrade sonically and in terms of the accessories that you get, but a step back in terms of material quality and design. The edges of the metallic part connecting the earcups to the headband are sharp and of a lower quality than the DT 700 PRO X. The headband itself has more padding, but the part where it connects with the metallic bit is formed of two plastic sections with a seam in the middle. Because the metal is not rounded, as the earcups move, the metal can get stuck in that seam and will make a loud popping noise when finally dislodged. The plastic of the earcups themselves also feels cheaper.

I love the braided cable, though. It would be a great cable if it wasn't so microphonic (as all the Beyerdynamic cables, really). I can't stress HIGHLY microphonic enough. There's a fan behind me that's turned on during the summer and if I don't play anything I can hear the vibrations of the moving air touching the cable. That's crazy.

Anyway, this is a headphone that was originally 600€ and it fails to keep up with its 250€ little brother in some aspects and that's extremely disappointing. If you don't care about the material fit and finish and just want a well-sounding headphone, then it might be for you, but if you care about the whole package, then I urge you to look elsewhere.

Best headphones for electronic music
Alexei_DOST 12.02.2021
First of all, using without correction has no sense, as they are not even close to flat frequency response. Too boomy in lows and harsh in the highs. But the are still great for me. I use this headphones with correction software Realphones. It corrects frequency response and adds binaural room simulation. Using this plugin with DT-1770 gives me the sound of really expensive big studio monitors. I have never heard Kick in headphones so similar to the real good pair of speakers. You can really feel the punch in your chest. It was Wow effect. That is why I called them best for electronic music. Details and scene are fantastic too. So, with using third party correction plugins - definitely yes! Without correction - for your taste.

incredible sound
Clarke0 14.01.2022
I've previously used the audio technica mx50 and sony 1000mx3. The 1770 pros are amazing really good sound so pleased I picked these up. The clarity is incredible can really hear more layers in music tracks, works well for gaming too they do need a preamp or soundcard to power them sufficiently well worth it. Build quality is also very impressive.
