It arrived in my hands just yesterday (only 7 days Germany-Greece thanks to thomann service) I had great reservations about buying a compressor again because I had previously tried two other well-known companies and they did not satisfy me. Τhe well "blue"one, was very noisy, it colored my sound quite a bit - which I didn't want - but it had very good sustain. Unfortunately the lack of Blend was a big mistake. The other yellow - one had bad sustain, didn't color the sound, and all it did was give me better clarity. The truth is, I was asking for a compressor to increase my sustain and inevitably had to buy one again. I trusted the rating on thomann from the friends who left their rating and really buying the Ego was very right. First of all, it has a plurality of settings. The 5 knobs Volume, Sustain, Tone, Attack and especially the Blend, give you the possibility to adjust your sound perfectly.
(Tips: If you are using a noise suppressor with send/return loop, put the compressor first in the noise gate loop before your drive pedals. It's the best position to have absolutely NO noise and the compressor help is what it should be. If the noise gate does not have a noise loop, put the compressor first right after the noise gate output, after the drive pedals)
Yesterday I tried it with many different settings and you really can find the perfect sound with so much potential. Best of all though is the Blend knob. This knob should be on every compressor pedal, because it gives you the ability to compress exactly how much you want your sound, but at the same time to keep the ability of your hand when using dynamics in your playing. An excellent pedal that will logically always be in the ON position on my pedalboard.
