Surprising great tone and versatility
turbion 21.07.2017
I also have the Amplug 2 Metal version.
The Blues has a much more tube-like, organic sound. It does a great imitation of a tube rectifier sag, like in the Tweed/Bassman/JTM45 amps. Fortunately this is not overdone. The noise floor on all settings is lower than the Metal version, which on the lowest gain setting has a pedal driven Blackface tone with no sag.

The 3 settings on the power button make the gain very controllable:
- Green goes from pure clean to slight breakup,
- Orange goes from slight breakup to a bluesy overdrive,
- Red pushes into warm heavy distortion.

The tone control is much more effective than in the Metal version. It adds a nice sparkle to the sound as opposed to the harsh treble in the Metal version.

The effects are essential and usable given the 3 intensity settings available.

As a reference I also use Amplitube for iOS and the sound quality is comparable, but the Amplug has much more volume on tap with a stronger bass. The bass may be bothersome to some, because there is no way to turn it down.

Amplug 2 is very comfortable with front jack socket guitars like Strat, SG or Duo-Sonic. With bottom jack entry guitars, like an LP, careful attention should be paid when sitting to avoid breaking the plastic casing.

A
Worth it's price
Anonymous 28.12.2021
This is a headphone amp. It's compact, it's convenient, and it sounds surprisingly good, especially in the slightly overdriven or crunch areas. Very bluesy indeed. It's all plastic, and wouldn't stand a lot of rough behaviour, but that's not the idea of this little thing. It's meant to be able to practice without plugging into an amp, and to that purpose, it delivers. I like it a lot.

Highly recommended!
LES PAUL FAN 27.08.2017
Since I have already owned a vox Amplug Classic Rock, I expected a mini amp of high quality from the Vox Amplug second version. However, the Blues version of the Vox Amplug 2 really exceeded my expectations. High quality of tones for an amp of this size , and many different sound colors with the FX (Delay, reverb, chorus). You may change each FX with just a push of the button, which adds functionality to the amp. The adjustment of the plug angle according to the guitar type is also a feature that adds extra points to the Vox Amplug 2 Blues. Excellent for quite home practicing. Excellent service from the Thomann team, I will definitely trust them again in any future purchase!

It simplify things.
BjornIP 10.07.2021
It do solve the issue I have with living in an apartment building. Neighbors demand their peace and quiet, and not all off them understand the true meaning of good blues. It enables me to practice without disturbing anyone outside the apartment.
But, the sound when I use headphones is very deep. But that I blame my headset for. When I connect the plug to the PC-speakers, it is pretty much like I play any other small amps.
But it is a plastic thing, and it feels very fragile so I am not sure how long it will last, but as a solution it is a brilliant idea.
It is mobile and you can play your instrument where ever people allow you to. Good luck.

Cheap all around, a toy.
JayGood 02.05.2021
This is a toy, don't think of it as anything else. And cheapness of plastic is astonishing. So you get a sound coming out of it, but don't expect anything that will please you. It may last some time, but it feels like it wants to fall apart before you plug it in the first time. The only thing that is solid is the jack itself, but how long will it stay attached to the cheap plastic box is another matter.

I'd buy one of its much cheaper alternatives instead, as this is not worth more than half its price.

Great little device
Näpyttelijä 28.01.2020
After receiving the Vox Amplug 2 Blues I've found myself using it almost exclusively instead of my "normal" amplifier. Device has just enough of features for normal practicing, a couple of different effects, tune and volume controls, and best of all, I'm able to do all of my practicing whilst giving my spouse a chance to study in peace :) I would say that instead of an amp and a few pedals this is a great way for a rookie (like me) to tweak around and test different things, but I won't go into deeper analyses as I am, as said, quite a rookie when it comes to guitar playing. Anyways, great little device, I also recently ordered another Vox Amplug2 for Bass.

Z
great start
Zosimo 27.09.2024
i got this because when i started playing i had a stereo but no amp, i was satisfied with how many sonds this can make because it has three modes, effects, aswel as volume, tone and gain knobs.
on my guitar the jack was below the body so regulating the device while on the guitar meant sitting down and fliping the guitar over. not really a complaint but if you have something like a strat it will be much easier.
the device itself feels a bit delicate, it didnt break on me but the plastic feels thin, other than that its good doesnt take too many batteries has an auto turn off. its good for a begginer

I would say this is a good product if you take in account that you get what you pay.
The sound with single coils is really acceptable and I can enjoy it a lot. But I could not say the same humbuckers.
It's something that all guitar players should have because there is a moment where you really need to be quiet. Of course, all the times that I can I use my tube amplifier :-)

LL
Essential bit of kit!
Luca Leon 22.08.2019
Received rather quickly to the UK. The Amplug I feel is an absolutely essential piece of kit especially if you've got small children like me but still want to play. Hadn't realized that it actually has some effects features and the gain function is surprisingly good. Works with all headphones and is super tiny so easy to carry anywhere. Would definitely recommend!

My night companion!
The Mitsos 16.04.2021
Three channels and three effects are enough to make your late night practice decent sounding and fun. Don't expect it to sound like a Vox valve amp and you ll be happy.Battery lasts about 15 hours if u use a pair of quality rechargables. Handle with care couse it's made out of cheap plastic
