Varytec Theater Spot 650/1000 Fresnel

I ordered a pair of these spots as I include all my business purchases within thomann and must say all items sold are always of exceptional value and quality! And to highly applause varytec version of theatre spot lights with the 1000watt halogen bulbs, which may get very hot be cautious when using these when in place!

These are a great addition to my studio filming and photography. I use with the botex 4 channel dimmer rack, they work in sync to one another. Very very well fit together in operation and when ordering the bundle pack the barn doors are high quality and very much needed for professional environment. For as low as budgets go these spots look like they will go all the way appose to your high end expensive gear.

These are quite large and have a nice size angle in beam to cover far range within a fresnels functionality. These are extremely bright and work great as dmx controlled. Nice dimming stepped bulb ability, smooth to handle the dimming and can really change the desirable mood of a scene in an instant!
Light and tinny housing with a plastic long back handle to arrange the fixture into positioning, very handy as the light gets very hot very fast if on full blow. Overall these are great and quick for set up in home studios or in theatre on set plenty power with the 1k bulb! The only draw back is the heat from them which can be a danger but if not all halogen fresnels are of same flaw, so it's not exactly varytecs version being the problem but all brands of halogen fresnels. Can't go wrong and a defo buy thumbs up 10 / 10

Bought two Fresnel spots and barn doors for lighting a small touring theatre production.
I needed to be able to light the cast in a number of different locations without spilling light onto a projection screen, so good control of light spread needed. Barn doors were essential for this purpose.
I am not a lighting expert thus cannot compare the performance of these units with others.
However, they did exactly what I needed them to do. There is good range of focus, there was sufficient light density to illuminate the cast from a distance of around 10 to 15 meters, and the quality of the units seems good.
The attachment of the barn doors seemed to be a bit flimsy and imprecise, but again this may be normal as I have nothing to compare it with.
The plugs supplied with th bundle are European - it would have been better to have UK plugs for a UK order.
In summary, these units bought as a bundle with barn doors, plugs and bulbs seem excellent value, did exactly what I needed them to do, and there seems little need to pay more for more expensive branded items.
