A very sturdy unit
Ian1617 26.02.2014
I've bought 3 of these shock mounts from Thomann.
I scoured the internet for a good suspension mount for my Neumann RSM191. This microphone has an over-all diameter of 30mm, so most shock-mounts will not accommodate my microphone.
It is very sturdy, the outer ring being of metal construction.
The bands are strong and the stand mount is of a good quality.
The mic clamp is advertised as opening to a diameter of 30mm.
This is the greatest width that the clamp can open to. A small countersunk bolt secures the clip to the shock-mount. I should point out that this bolt protruded slightly on all three of the units I bought. Care may need to be taken in order to make sure that it doesn't scratch the case of your microphone if it has a diameter as wide as mine.

Over-all, a very sturdy unit and definitely the best value shock-mount of this type that I have found available.

A
Great product
Anonymous 13.03.2017
I purhcased the t.bone SSM 5 microphone shock mount in order to use it with my previously bought the t.bone EM 9900 microphone. The microphone arrived with it's stock mic holder which you will find is unusable with boom poles as I am using it with the Rode Mini Boompole. So I had to purchase a shock mount holder to eliminate all the unneeded noises and bumps from the pole. After a quick research on the website I found this one and decided to try it out. It turned out to be a steal! Let's face it - the price is great on this piece.

What I love about it is it's ability to accomodate microphones anywhere from 19-20mm up to 30mm which is quite the range if you ask me. I also liked the build quality as all parts of it feel good. The ring is built of metal, the mount feels solid and of course not on last place the bands feel tight.

So far haven't had any issues with it and I can freely recommend it to you if your mic fits :)

It does the job very well

It has a very good fit on my ECM999 measurements mic and it also fits very well my AKG D5 too. For its price is very good indeed, definitely recommended.

The outer shock-mount is metallic (aluminum perhaps), so it is solid and should last.

TS
Very pleased
Toader Silviu 05.03.2021
I use it for a SDC condenser mic (sE7) for Cajon tapa. It is not completely necessary for may application (tapa mic has already a Low Cut applied quite high so it eliminates any rumble picked by the mic), but it further eliminates vibrations which is quite nice.
Cons: a foam padding would have been great for the grip. I tried it on a Rode M2 mic and it got scratched because the grip has an exposed screw head that scratches any mic since you have to slide the mic in the grip. I solved it by tightening the screw and putting a small quantity of Sanitary Silicone over the exposed head to avoid scratching the mics. I don't know how long will it work until I will have to put another quantity of silicone.
The device is great. The above mentioned issue is a glaring omission but for the price it's great.

SHOCK? Not with these...
Timothy Dowd 29.01.2021
I bought some guest Behringer XM1800S mics and they are very cheap but useable for my needs... only issue is they are very sensitive to knocks so I bought three of these (which cost more than the mics) and they do a great job... the difference is noticeable although nothing could completely eliminate the sound transfer with these mics.

I bought this one for Sennheiser E614, which is 20mm width. It holds OK. The main thing I was impressed with, this mount is sturdy and well built with metal. It's larger than it seems and heavier.

I've also used this for Shure SM58 and SM57 - it is even more suitable for these heavier mics than for E614.

The 3/8 adapter was included, which was not indicated in description.

Very good value
MickD 25.04.2016
I ordered 4 of these, and 2 had issues. Thanks to Thomann for sending on replacements pretty quickly and these were perfect.

The issues were in assembly. A misaligned spring prevented one side of the clip from opening. Loose screws left the cradle rattling and a loose connection between the main body and tilt thumb screw. I probably could have tightened up the screws and realigned the spring if I had the right tools and an hour to spare. But there is always the assurance that Thomann stand behind everything they sell.

Issues aside, I'm pleased with these shockmounts. They easily hold my SDCs of 21mm OD and I think they would equally hold mics of 19mm or 20mm. They do a good job of isolating the mic from bumps and vibrations transmitted through the mic stand. I think I'll get years of use from these and the only overhead will be tightening screws from time to time.

I would recommend these, especially with the Thomann price and backup.

SZ
Cost effective Shockmount
Sebastian Z. 777 18.05.2014
The T.Bone SSM 5 has been used for many light condenser microphones with thin and also thick neck, tested on different weight, angle and measure. This shock mount has been dropped many times on the floor by accident and at this point, I didn't notice any significant failure or damages so far. The shock mount is still fully functional and that's the best example how this product has been made. Despite the fact that only rubber strip elements would be easily damaged or broke after stretch, anyway replacement of these elements will cost you less than 1 euro. For many musicians, it is a great opportunity to buy an affordable useful tool, especially for a private home recording studio. In my opinion is nothing to compare with branded companies manufactured very expensive shock mounts systems for really heavy microphones, related to this one it would be good value for money.

Perfect for Oktava MK012
Stephen6496 10.09.2015
This is a perfect shockmount for the Oktava 012 microphone. It is light weight, well built and compact. It features a very stiff spring that confidently holds the microphone securely in place. Highly recommended and great value from Thomann, will also hold dynamic mics that would be used in the studio eg SM57
