Great sound, almost great construction
Anonymous 09.06.2014
While sounding way better than you'd expect at this price there are some obvious drawbacks.
The speakers perform great at almost any volume, no distortion when they are put to the test. They work well in both monitoring use as well as being used as active speakers at smaller venues (although the front-mounted input-output panel looks a bit awkward in that context).

HOWEVER, handling these kind of heavy pieces are everything but a blessing. No handles whatsoever, and the stackable corners just feels wiggley like an egg in a frying pan.

Still a really good buy, if you can live with the mentioned drawbacks.

The Box MA100
Anonymous 02.02.2015
I bought this active monitor to make a pair with the MA100 I had bought previously and been impressed with. This generation of MA100 has some slightly different features to the original, such as a green LED to show power, but essentially it is the same product. My usage is for pub/bar gigs with my band and I can honestly say, that for the money, these monitors are great. There is no hiss or buzz from the unit. The EQ and volume section is very good and gives control to the user without going over to the mixer. Also, another great feature is the speakon out, which allows you to run another 4 ohm passive monitor from the active MA100 unit.
Delivery and customer service from Thomann was excellent as usual and the unit arrived in perfect condition.
The only downside of the MA100 is there is no carry handle on the wedge. It is not overly heavy, but can be awkward to move due to it's size. The MA120 does come with a handle as a standard feature.
I would recommend these wedges to anyone playing in a pub/bar band or for use in any small theatre/venue as a quality, but affordable monitor solution.

OS
Good Monitor speaker for acoustic bands (not for a loud rock band)
Orly Sound 20.10.2021
I bought these monitors and they sound ok, but they are not good enough for a loud rock band, you will need at least 300w or even better 600w. But if you are playing in an acoustic band you will be ok with these speakers.

Some very small issues
Wrentec 25.06.2015
the main one being no handle! This means two trips to the van while loading and unloading.
for the price you cant go wrong they have a very slight hiss but not enough for anyone to complain about.....yet!
The fact that you plug a microphone into a socket labelled microphone and a line input into a socket labelled line input is a lot better than a small switch hidden at the back of the unit that can easily be missed, it makes it a lot easier for me to send this out with non techie musicians and they are able to figure out what plugs in where. I mainly use these as wedge monitors on stage, but they have coped well as front of house at a couple of small (100-120 people) gigs

I bought this a practice drum amp.
BenRsound 01.08.2023
With an adapter it works great!
it's a bit quiet, but that's fine for practice.
It would be better if it had handles. It's quite hard to move around and it's pretty heavy.

I used this speaker on the ROLAND TD11K, and its sound is enough for me. At the same price, it is very cost-effective. Thank you thomann for providing such high-quality goods!

No Handle, Little bass, Not bad though...
James W. 23.07.2013
We have recently replaced these (we have 2) with some Wharfedales EVPs which are brilliant. Anyway the Box MA100s aren't bad little things. We have used them extensively for nearly 2 years. The problem we had was that they dont really produce bass. So the sound gets very muffled very quickly unless you cut all bass frequencies out. I would say that these would be good for an open mic situation or solo artist in a small venue or for lifting vocals during practice.

As an acoustic band, we now only use them for amplifying vocals during practice. This works quite well for us as the new monitors are big and loud and completely unnecessary for practice. But by lifting the vocals above the other instruments we can practice without straining. I hope this helps.

A great Speaker
Anonymous 31.03.2014
I have "The Box MA100 " appointed me as a " studio " speakers and connected via a Behringer UB1202 mixer . Left the Box - thomann right my Bass Workstation Behringer BXL 300A with 300W ! Of course, this can only go well with " discreet " vote, but should first only show what the box is good .

The sound is " real", punchy and well balanced, solid processing and connection Technically everything on it that you need for the above mentioned purposes.

So I 've decided to order another thomann MA100 , so my output power is synchronized on both channels and the sound also .
If the demands are increasing , finally there is the possibility with other passive speakers to " stretch " and thus ensure more " dynamic texture " .

The 100W and the two- way components provide enough "steam" and volume when me or my teammates time to go through the horses. thomann on room volume is missing from the nothing.

So my full recommendation for ogVerwendung !

addendum:
Today get The Box MA100 connected unpacked and my expectation is fully met !

update:
After I have sorted my equipment I wanted to implement the saying of " more moving surface " into action and got me a few thomann passive " The Box PA M 12 eco MK II" , provide together with Neutrik connector cables allow that, while B- floor, now meet my expectations fully !
More pressure keeps my diaphragm not ! :-)

Great product
TolisTheo 28.04.2021
I use it as a monitor in our rehearsal studio, great sound for that price range. I've used it as a stage monitor too. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a grip to move it easily, a feature only available in the next models

P
VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY AND A NICE, COMPACT MONITOR
Paul494 20.12.2013
These (we bought 2) are our first powered monitors and overall they seem to be very good, and excellent value for money. They've got plenty of options of inputs/outputs/EQ etc... and the build quality is very good. They don't have handles like the 12" version does.... (take note Thomann!!) so I've had to put some on. The most important thing, of course, is the sound they make and I have to say that this is very good, but a bit short of 'excellent'. They're certainly loud enough and the sound clear and clean. However, I've found that on 'hollow' stages they can be a bit 'boomy' and I've needed to tweak the EQ and take off the low frequencies.... Having done that they've been absolutely fine. It's worth having the covers as the controls, while being receced, are perhaps a little vunerable. We run a 9 piece swing outfit and genreally only need them for vocal monitoring. They've done several gigs and do a good job. Another quality and good value product from Thomann!!!
