MojoMojo: good overdrive pedal
Stephen6150 18.07.2015
I use this pedal with a lap steel guitar and with my Tele and Strat. As the lap steel has a P90 pickup, and the Fenders obviously have single coils, I can't comment on how well this pedal suits instruments equipped with humbuckers.

The pedal is true by-pass, well-built and well-finished. The case is aluminium. The battery compartment is accessible by undoing a screw with the side of a coin, which is handy if you don't have a screwdriver to hand (but obviously not as handy as a Boss-type spring loaded compartment). The pedal can also be operated with any 9V (negative centre) mains adapter.

There are four knobs - drive, level, bass and treble - whose function is self-explanatory. They all offer a good range of adjustability. It's useful to have separate treble and bass controls instead of a single tone knob. In addition, there is a two-position mini-toggle switch to adjust the pedal's bass response.

How does is it sound? Well, if, like me, you dislike heavily distorted guitars, the MojoMojo offers a good level of overdrive that is not over-the-top. I play my lap steel through a transistor bass guitar amp with a 15-inch speaker, and the pedal allows me to add an appealing raunchiness when play blues riffs in Open E. My Strat and Tele go into a Vox AC15, and this pedal adds a great lead sound to the jangly tone of the latter amp. The pedal's bass response is good, although the mini-toggle switch is fairly subtle in its effect.

In conclusion, this is a good overdrive pedal, and excellent value for money, if you want an overdriven sound rather than heavy distortion. In my view, it is ideal for playing solos on single coil guitars while preserving the basic tone of those guitars.

Good with bright single coils to add a little weight. Also usable as a clean boost. Not very inspiring drive sounds by itself

Great value
Anonymous 12.01.2016
This pedal was great value at the original price, and now at almost half the price, even more so.

Pros:
Great build quality
Intuitive controls
Cheap
Versatile

Cons
None

I basically use this as a second channel on my Vox Ac4 valve amp. Great analog sound and responsiveness for that purpose. I highly recommend it.

R
Good well made pedal
RomadDan 27.05.2020
I bought this pedal ‘cus the great Paul Gilbert used one for years... for some reason, after buying it... I still couldn’t play like Paul. :-(

Seriously, it’s a good pedal, very Marshall like, unfortunately it doesn’t inspire me. I’m going to keep it on my pedal board and continue to play with it and hopefully one day I’ll go into it.

With that said, I do recommend the pedal. It’s well built and easy to use, does sound good for what it does, but it’s not what I was looking for.

SH
Very dynamic overdrive
Santiago H. 08.04.2014
I bought the MojoMojo looking for something that can act as an overdrive pushing my Egnater amp that I enjoy a lot and can do from a boost to a source of nice distorsion.

The MojoMojo fulfilled my needs in all aspects, when using the gain at minimum and the volume, bass and treble at max I get a beautiful almost transparent boost to my cleans and if the amp is a bit overdriven it gets pushed even more.

When using the gain and moving it up then a nice distorsion starts to pop up. To me it's more like a marshall sound, which I enjoy a lot, has a lot of thickness on it.

The thing I like the most of the pedal is how dynamic it is, lowering the volume cleans up nicely and even responds very well to picking dynamics.

This overdrive has the features you expect.
The sound is good too.

The only con if have find is the ON / OFF button who feels weird.
I have others TC Electronic pedals and they have better quality switch. We will see in the future how it goes

Otherwise, it's a complete bargain

C
Super versatile and great-sounding pedal
ChrisR 13.09.2017
I added this to my board after seeing Paul Gilbert's demos of it and I really like it. The sound when using humbuckers is pretty bass-heavy but the presence of a separate bass and treble control ensures a comfortable level of tonal flexibility.

Using it into the front of a clean amp produces a very pleasant classic rock sound, while running it into a crunch channel (like I do) produces a really tasty heavy overdrive that retains clarity and delivers singing sustain and great snarling mids.

I personally use it in alternation with a Maxon OD808 in the studio, going into an already-dirty Orange Dual Terror for left and right-side guitar tracks, and they make a great pair as each one does what the other doesn't.

I recommend this pedal to anyone playing rock, hard rock or blues, though I'm sure it would suit some other genres too.

Nice mellow overdrive
Renin 22.05.2020
This is a nice and mellow bluesy overdrive. Don't expect a roaring drive. Bass & treble controls separately are a nice feauture. Most suitable for pushing clean tones to a more bluesy fat tone. No treally suited to boost gain sounds. Sounds too muddy with distortion.
Pedal is really cheap and well built. Very good value for money.
