I bought two of these to fit to my new Tama Iron Cobra kick drum pedal and hi-hat pedal as I dislike having the toe of my shoe hitting the drive chain. They aren't quite as effective as I would have liked. I play heel down in leather shoes and the shoe tends to creep over the top of the Shoestopp. Playing heel up or in flat -soled shoes liked Vans it would perhaps be more effective. However, I'm glad I got them as they have helped solve this minor problem.

Save your shoes!

This was an addition for my double pedal (on both plates). It really helped with marks form the pedal chain on my shoes. It also helped me in better positioning my feet when I play, which contributed to my speed and precision. This is an excellent upgrade for the pedal, and really worth the money. For some players it may take a while to get used to, but you don't have to do it consciously since the shoestop forces you to do it. In a while you'll forget it is even there.
The quality is good, but the black powder finish wears off from friction with the shoe tip. It does not, however, destroy your shoes as the chain does.

Speed King?

Cannot imagine using these pedals without them - an essential purchase (surely should come as standard!). You always have a reference point with these, so you can be confident that your toes are where they need to be for critical footwork & not rubbing against the chain - Not good if you need quick double bass & your feet are too far forwards! Once these were in place it was so much easier to practice precise techniques - you're feet are always better balanced & always have a locatable reference point to work from for a better touch/turn of speed. Essential purchase in my opinion.

S
just works

this shoestop does just that, it prevents your footwear from slipping against the chain; it’s a convenient accessory that unfortunately does not come stock with tama pedals ( at least it didn’t with my iron cobra ), also it has a fairly sturdy, rugged feel, so it should last for some time. I’m happy with this on my pedal, don’t see any disadvantages to it.

A necessary little ad-on
Stephane4242 05.10.2017
It is a nice & necessary little ad-on to your iron cobra. Stops you from unexpected slips of the foot. Whether I play fast or slow, it gives me the confidence that I will never hit the chain again with the tip of my shoe and accidentally give a double stroke on the bass drum, or worst, miss a hit because the sole of my shoe was slightly wet...
However I would've like to have this included with my Iron Cobra when I bought it... It's such a little thing I'm sure Tama could afford to put it in the box...

Exactly right

The toe stop is perfect for me and is at last a solution to a sometimes wandering foot.

The fitting was quick and easy with a drum key headed bolt. Quality is typical of Tama stuff, in other words good.

s
fits every iron cobra
spookanide 24.07.2022
When I got my entry-model iron cobra hp200 I noticed a little hole that looked like it would support a stopper like this. Not only does this fit, the stopper is made so that it sits inside the grooves that are milled out at the top, AND the hole is threaded! It's kind of incredible that Tama does not advertise this stopper as a universal fit for the entire iron cobra line. Love it.

Works as expected

not expensive,
if you buy a double pedal, don´t forget you may need 2 of them.

The only question is why they do not come included with the pedals.

I rarely touch the pedal so close to the chain, so I rarely use them as a blocking device.
I rather use them as a reference point, to position my foot the way I need to get the right beat, depending on the dynamics or speed I have to play.
