Stairville AF-40 Mini Fog Machine

I got this for a small theater production where all I needed was a small fog machine that was quick to setup and simple to use. It was great for that, very easy to setup and operate using the one button to go.
It produces and good cloud of fog considering it's size and price however when you use it, it very quickly cools down and you have to wait for it to warm up again before you can use it again.
So for a small party or for an effect this is a good little fog machine.
However it does have it's drawbacks. This isn't a fog machine you can turn on set what you want and forget about it till the end, you have to press the button every time you want fog. Also although it does produce a good amount of fog for it's size and price, it's won't fill a big room very quickly.
The lead for the button is a good length so you can position it away from where you are and still control it and the button does have a magnet on the back to hold it in place.
Overall it is a good fog machine for the money but lacking some of the features of the bigger more expensive one.

I bought this for little parties and gigs. This machine is absolutely amazing for the price. Quite good amount of smoke in one time (20m2 room was full of smoke, even too much smoke, in one straight push). I was using more dense smoke liquid.
If you need a lot of smoke in big room right away, you should buy more powerful thing. But I use it just to make a little effect with my PAR lights and moving heads.

- (Only one minus) it takes maybe too long to heat the liquid up and start making smoke and sometimes you need a little smoke right away but you have to wait some time to heat this thing up.

For this price it is definitely brilliant.

We bought this as a novelty item so my duo could have fun playing songs like 'Smoke on the Water' and' Werewolves of London'. I was almost expecting it to fail after five minutes being an inexpensive and somewhat low-spec device but in fact the reservoir of smoke liquid lasted all night on the first show and was not in need of a top-up the next gig. There is no 'constant smoke' setting, so one has to press the remote for a pulse of smoke, but the remote, though 'on-a-wire' is very long and available to any band member. All in all I think this was a very affordable item that has added a lot of value to the online presence of my band. I can't imagine either, that I would have found a similar device at this value for money anywhere else on the web but IS a very good value product with high performance!

Good product with small power requirement.
Specially considering the price the value to money rate is great.
On small venues I would say to have this small power 400w is great.
Many times you have to worry how the stage fuses hold with all the power need of PA, instruments, lights and fog machine.
But with this 400w device you dont stress the fuses too much.

operates manually by pressing the footswitch. amount of smoke is good for small stages.
Larger halls and stages require bigger device.
I will order also a larger model with automatic fog timing.
(from thoman the same manufacturer but bigger unit) to have it on bigger stages.
the fog fluid container if this smaller unit is not big but it lasted our 2x 45min sets without "re-flueling". we did not press the pedal all the time though.
with bigger unis you have more fluid capacity.
