A quick tuning key
Odd Erik 12.10.2020
Makes head changes much quicker. I've would recomend using one in each hand. The rubber tip gives good grip, and makes it comfy to use. Quality seems to be good. The colored tip makes it a bit more difficult to lose :)

Awesome!
Tom U. 24.02.2014
I was unsure when I bought two of these keys, but they made tuning so much easier. I managed to get my Ascent snare in tune with itself much quicker than ever before, and the rubberised grips at the top really help with the finger-tightening phase.

Worthwhile buy, but make sure you get two!

Some good, some less good
Nonsensei 26.06.2023
Bought two of these to be able to tune two tension rods simultaneously on opposite sides of the head. On one of the keys, the red plastic part is not solid, so it starts to slip when you start getting some resistance. In other words, I cannot use the two keys to achieve the same level of 'finger tight' by holding on to the red plastic part.

Otherwise; it's a drum key. The red plastic is a good idea for the finger tightening (if it was always solid, some quality control might help with that) and the red color makes it easier to find when you inevitably drop it, especially in dark gig conditions.

G
solid feel, comfortable grip
Gairm 19.12.2019
Feel in the hand is comfortable. The orange spin grip feels solid, has a steel core that comes up well inside the plastic / rubber, the plastic is thick and has some give, so grips well in fingers, doesn't feel like it will give way anytime soon.
Quality is great for the price.

The best key ever!!
Nikit 31.05.2018
I bought two of these beauties as Gavin Harrison recommended in Sonor clip on Protean snare and don't regret a second about it. It is so easy to tune my drums now with the least amount of time. It is a dream come true when you are going finger tight without any pain or discomfort in your fingers. And using two keys makes it really fast to tune. What else can I say - Gavin Harrison is a true professional. And the fact that the price for this is only 5 euros is a total blessing.
Absolutely recommend this key as it will make your tuning easier and way faster!!!

G
Superb Drum Key
Garrie 03.02.2015
As with all other drummers as I have the problem of the wondering drum key, our drum keys seem to have a life of their own and start growing legs because they always seem to dissapear in the darkest depths of your stick bag, carpet, hole in the stage etc.

Sonor have managed to resolve this issue by inventing a drum (with help from Gavin Harrison) that has a BRIGHT REDY/ORANGE plastic cover which is really in not only finding your walkabout drum key on a dark stage but it helps massively to tune the drum by allowing you to use the plastic to finger tighten the tension rods.

As always from sonor, great chrome. I bought 2 purely to help with finger tighening tension rods a pair at a time.

Great product

If you change head or tune drums you need this

I'd suggest two! The ease with which the rubberized top facilitates quickly removing or installing lugs is a real time saver!

Praktisch
thoherr 02.04.2024

Very useful product
Michael8655 16.02.2021
This is a great product to obtain even and quick tensioning. I have always finger tightened first before using a key and with this product you can do both.

Sonor stuff is always well made and this is no exception.

A
Good Quality, Balanced and Ergonomic Drum Key
Anonymous 21.09.2016
Square socket fits perfectly (just snug enough and not too loose like some) on standard tension rods allowing for quick reversals as well as leaving in place while testing head pitch.

Orange rubber tip provides for rapid loosening and tightening (as others have mentioned) and the tips on both of my keys do not move so possibly Sonor has starting gluing them in place. The indentations on either side of the handle (ears) also make for a very comfortable and precise grip while fine tuning.

The chrome and overall build quality are typical 1st-class Sonor and if there's any room for improvement it would be an insignificant nit-pick... the inside of the socket is not completely chromed and the copper plating is exposed, but some silver paint could easily add protection if desired.

Kudos to Gavin Harrison and Sonor for a high-end, low-cost product. You'd be hard pressed to find a comparable key for a similar under $5 USD cost.
