Performing live with a punk band can get messy, emotions overflowing with energy, letting Yourself go etc. etc. As some of You might have noticed - when playing live drum sticks, guitar strings tend to break more often and if the singer is any good, he/ she might smash the mic in sometimes as well. Then You know, sooner or later the screen will have to be replaced, unless You're comfortable with a deep bump or a possibility of damaging the cartridge of the mic for good.
I remember when I first bought a couple of used Shure SM58's, I immediately bought new replacement screens, since disinfecting it and getting rid of the smell of the previous owner's smelly breath proved too much of a hassle.
Those were the cheapest, off-brand screens that fit and that I could find. To my disappointment, they got rusty pretty soon and weren't looking too good either.
So, if You're looking for a new screen for Your Shure SM58, this product made by the Shure itself is the best choice.
Pros:
1) Original manufacturer;
2) made specifically for SM58 models;
3) quality build and sustainability unlike the cheaper off-brand models;
4) makes the whole mic look like brand new.
