SPB-1 a dream pickup !
Tony787 03.07.2013
I have been searching for a certain sound in my head for my p-bass -
a low end grindy smooth thump
very steve harris , but with ability for all other styles , disco . funk rock even jazz
This pickup was like finding the holy grail.
bass = fender road worn 50's p bass maple neck
I tried the nordstum np4 - too flat - too controlled - no life
went back to stock fenders - but they are too raw and lacked finesse and are thin sounding
tried the spb 1 in the end
instant sound I am looking for
superb finger touch . ghost notes are a breeze
great piano like sustain and twang
lovely punchy grind and low end .
if you want to play finger style and cut thru - this is the baby for you
steve harris sound ? look no further .
Now I cant put the bass down now with these pickups in it
I'm very hard to please - these pleased me hugely
you wont regret them !

A Surprise
Michael W. 151 28.05.2016
I bought the pickup for a PB kit. The original pup wasn't awful but I didn't realise how much it lacked until I fitted the Seymour Duncan. The 'woody thump' associated with PB's suddenly turned up - lots of it. There was also more in the harmonics and it was generally louder. In short a 99 euro kit bass is now a very decent sounding bass.
Easily fitted by anyone with even mediocre soldering skills, it's a very good pick-up for the money.

Classic precision bass sound
Rolf2079 01.07.2014
Very happy, read the other review, and not disappointed - lovely full, rounded and typical sound. I mounted in the standard position ,but on a Harley B. jazz bass (with a bit of extra routing) to convert to a PJ and very pleased with the result - compares very nicely with my old fender! Comes with wiring diagram, screws and foam pads. Standard 2 wire output.

Good quality low output pickups
Algirdas 21.05.2013
This is a well made pickup designed to sound like a vintage P-Bass. I don't have a vintage pickup to compare it to but the sound characteristics appear to be indistinguishable from the ones I've heard on countless recordings from the past. I have only one minor complaint. I understand that the originals were that way, too, but they could have at least improved the hook-up cables. I would have preferred if they were shielded instead of just covered with waxed cloth. Shielded cables would have prevented from interference and thus highly reduced the hum. Other than that, this is a high quality, good sounding pickup.

Very nice vintage P-bass tone
wgen 10.11.2016
Believe it or not, but if you're searching for that classic Precision bass tone, you won't find much more better than this Seymour Duncan pickup. The price isn't high if compared with many other brands, but the tone is just sweet: it gives very good detail and clarity to the notes, still those classic Precision midrange and punchy, warm character are here. Great!

Sounds like a p-bass should!
Anonymous 24.08.2015
Replaced the stock pickup in my MIM standard p-bass with this. Very happy. Sounds fantastic...just like a p-bass should. I had a hard time deciding between this and the Fender '60s pickup, but after doing a lot of reading and watching a few videos, I chose the SPB-1 and I couldn't be happier. The only thing I wish was different was a textured pickup cover without any lettering on it. Not a big deal...

Classic Fender Thump
Manda 17.01.2018
The SPB-1 is a great pickup for those folks who want that classic P-bass thump without lots of distortion or noise. I have mine paired with an STK-2J in a PJ bass, and they're a great pair for classic rock, blues, and country.

Great vintage sounding pickup
Alexité 05.01.2023
A great and pretty inexpensive vintage sounding pickup. If you're looking for a cheap but effective pickup that emulates the sound of a 60's PBass.. that's what you need ! Easy upgrade on my mexican P Bass.
