My dream guitar
Waldorg 01.05.2020
Disclaimer: I received this guitar on 29/04/2020, so I will update this review in a year or so.

Luthiery: The guitar looks fabulous, much better than in the photos. The glossy black finish looks amazing along with the cream-coloured bindings! Looking closely you can distinguished the main lines of the woods under the paint... Is it a defect? I like it either way. The neck is simply incredible, the maple is beautiful, with a glossy lacker finish on top of the fretboard, and a satin/very smooth finish on the back. My neck has a defect on the 12th fret side marker, it (I guess) wasn't sanded properly and grips a bit just on one spot but it doesn't affect the playability at all. Another con, which I don't like that much is that nearly all the fret starting from the 9th are a bit corroded... Fortunately, this is just a cosmetic issue, as the frets are all smooth. And I love the guitar too much to send it back for this defect. Other than that everything looks great. If I would want to be picky, I'd say that I can spot some minor defects on the border between the binding and the wood. I can live with those defects.

Sound/features: The guitar sounds AMAZING! Shecter has chosen incredible versatile pick-ups for this guitar! And the really well made push-up nob to choose between single-coil and humbucker pickups is a really convenient feature. The 3-way switch works great, though in the middle position (Bridge&Neck) the switch is a bit wobbly, that's me being picky.

Overall, a huge amount of guitar for the money! The playability with this maple neck is top-notch, and the incredible pick-ups + features make for a super versatile guitar. This is my dream guitar.

If you're looking for a telecaster shape guitar, the Schecter PT is just like a Tele, but it looks better, sounds better, is more versatile and has more guts. It is also obviously much cheaper!

Thanks, Thomann for the delivery, even during these crazy times.

Edit 02/12/2020: This guitar is still fabulous, though I will change the nut because the original plastic one is not great.

Edit 07/05/2022: I can't get enough of this guitar, the playability is just perfect for me. No defect to this day.

Very good super Tele
Djimmr 11.06.2014
The Schecter PT is a very nice guitar. The neck profile feels like an F-type modern C shape, satin laquered on the back, gloss lacquered on the fretboard. Long term I think most players will consider swapping out the pickups for their preferred humbuckers - I'd probably go for high quality PAF-types or maybe humbucker sized P90s.

These guitars are made in the same Korean factory that makes PRS SE and ESP LTD guitars and I found build quality to be on par - in short, very well made for the cost. Thoroughly recommended for those looking for a T-type guitar with less twang and more guts.
