Perfect.

Perfect tuners for my les paul!
My les paul came stock with robot tuners I didnt like.
I knew I loved locking tuners but I never liked the look of them.
These tuners solve the issue! They work great, have a fantastic locking feature, keep the guitar in tune and look vintage!

10/10 literally perfect.

Basically unusable
Milberry 09.02.2021
I wanted to upgrade stock tuners on some of my Gibson guitars. These Schallers at first seemed a perfect choice. But then came a big disappointment.

Having read mostly positive reviews, I bought two sets at once. They came in packed in very nice boxes, reminding of a new iPhone. But that's where good things end... Here are the problems that followed:

1. The tuners simply don't fit the headstocks of my Gibson guitars (SG, ES, LP): the supplied shims make the position of the string hole too low to the extent that is it partially blocked by the screw nut that holds the tuner. Well, this can be to some extent overcome by using Gibson's stock shims instead of the ones that are supplied with the Schaller tuners. Yet the sting holes remain too low (which is ridiculous given Gibson headstocks are all angled and do not require directing strings downward as Fenders do). As a result, I could barely put the bass E string into the hole in the tuner (it was a 0.46 gauge). So, if you use thicker strings, for sure the low E string would not come through.

2. The 1st E string could not be clamped in position properly and kept creeping out of the lock (as I was turning the tuner to tune up the string, the tone remained the same or even dropped as the string was slipping out of the lock).

3. Upon installation, all strings did not stay in tune even after a couple of re-adjustments. Compared to Fender locking tuners, the difference in the tuning stability is huge.

4. One of the tuners was outright defective (too loose).

Thus, I'm sending back both sets, which to my regret Thomann will have to handle somehow with Schaller.

And, quite obviously, I cannot recommend this product because, in my opinion, it is a total fiasco. Alas.

Overall, I now consider Schaller products as poor quality and not Gibson-friendly, as the whole situation reminds me of Schaller strap locks whose installation on a Gibson guitar is similarly a big problem, especially with the screw in the lower part of the guitar, let alone other well known issues with these locks.

That's not what we, guitar lovers, expect from the stereotypically superb German engineering. Period.

Happy at last ;)

Fitted them in my LP Studio, replacing Tronical, which replaced stock.
As a bedroom guitarist I practice some blues now, so I bend a lot. In spite of it the tuning is quite stable and usually needs only minor adjustments before play.
If you're new to locking tuners, remember not to overtighten the locking pins, or your E wil break :)
Overall - very happy. The only thing which may not be perfect is the color of tuning pegs, which does not match stock

Changing strings is now a pleasure :)
M666 06.07.2021
These tuners make changing strings a very pleasant process, you just pull the string through the pole, clamp it and done. No more winding, string falling out of the hole.
The installation on a Gibson Les Paul Studio 2016 is very easy, no issues with compatibility.
My only complain is that the locking cap requires in my opinion slightly too much force to clamp the string.

Traditional looking, but modern machine heads
Anonymous 01.03.2017
These are installed on my Gibson SG special, having tried various other brands I wanted something traditional looking but with the locking feature.
My SG is very well balanced, so no neck dive at all. These machine heads, although locking, don't really weight more than the stock ones so it maintains its balance. I had previous tried Grover locking rotomatics and these did upset the balance.
These do maintain the traditional look of the SG, which I really like. I thought the black screws for the locking mechanism may detract from this, but they really don't.
These also have a light action and the guitar always stays in tune.
These are also direct replacements and fit absolutely perfectly. I'm very happy with them indeed.

Great upgrade for a Gibson SG
Machineboy 31.03.2021
I love locking tuners, but wanted to keep the retro look on my Gibson SG. These are drop in replacements and look and function great. They are ever so slightly heavier than the original keystones, but the locking is a worthwhile compromise.

Bought them as a replacement for the gibson deluxe tuners in my SG. The only issue I had is that two of the posts had to be forced in. Two bad things about them are
1) The edges of the wholes were the strings go were very sharp and my string broke constantly until I made them more smooth (mostly my B string which is not as thin)
2) When I took them out of the box they were a bit tight and they had to be lubricated in order to work smoothly.

Bought these to replace e-tune on my 2014 SG
swolfp 07.09.2018
I got fed up with the min e-tune on my 2014 SG so bought these and had them fitted by a local luthier. It didn't look like a difficult job and I could have done it myself but I also had a bone nutted made and fitted and a service.
These tuners are great, super quick and easy to change strings and hold their tone very well. Slightly sensitive ratio when tuning compared to my other guitars but I'm used to it now. The quality is excellent, they look great too. Happy to recommend!

Good quality

Flawless quality and looks, but they don't appear to be a great fit for my Gibson SG. The headstock seems to be too thick to fit the nut and washer. I had to leave out the washer, which is not ideal. Still, I'm very happy with the function.
