The most versatile

I use it with my MKH-416 and Sanken CSR-2 sometimes, but it fits almost all shotguns (I didn't ever seen any shotgun which can't be used with this mount).

Any word said about this mount is less, then it actually does. This is the most versatile, durable, lightweight, silent and convenient pistol mount I ever hold in my hands last 12 years I do my job. I know only one exception of use this mount - it is strong wind, more than 5 m/s, when Softie windshield cant help you.

Only Rycote products can do the Thing that will make you forget about unexpected noises and concentrate on sound you record.

You can use it with stock light windscreen or with Classic Softie, with or without boompole, with or without plug-on and so on... You can unscrew the handle and mount the mic holder wherever you want.

Works well overall

I use it with a Audio Technica BP4025 and it works very well for eliminating handling noise.

For my stereo mic, I use a Pro Snake Stereo Y-Cable 1,5m cable which fits in the notch on top of the grip, but at the bottom of the grip I had to improvise and use a velcro strap to avoid the cable dangling around and making noise. That works as a temporary solution, but makes it less comfortable to hold.

This is the one thing I don't like, it's designed for using a certain type of small extension cable where the XLR is supposed to go into the bottom of the handle, and they offer no flexibility for other cables.
I'll eventually cut out a little rubber stop or something myself, and that will be more comfortable while holding the cable in place.

But at this price point, I think this could have been easily taken into consideration and solved better.

Study, perfect for field recording.

Not much you can really say about this other than the obvious; allows you to very easily hold a microphone without handling noise, provides some shock absorbing qualities, and also has a nice gap for a microphone cable to pass through the handle as opposed to being loose and possible causing mic hits. It also looks pretty cool.. It works perfectly with the ME66 by Sennheiser, and would also no doubt fit other similar models like the 416 etc. it also has a screw bottom at the bottom of the handle to screw onto a tripod or boom poll. Very versatile product.

A good multitool

a "should be a must have for sound related work" . It is not just a handheld mount with the shock-absorbing springs: it also has a borehole on the bottom of it,so you can directly mount it on an actual mic stand without the need of the regular clamp/holder. But the handheld handle has a nice ergonomic grip to it,with rubber. I honestly can't complain about the design so far.

Amazing

A great mount, you can remove the grip if you want, and just use the top part.

The only draw back that I can see is that the cable routing need a thinner cable to fit properly, however it does'nt bother me that much

Even tho you should use smaller mic, I can still fit a shotgun and use it without problems

Nicer than expected

I thought it might be overpriced since it's most plastic and rubber, but there are tons of little details that indicate how thoughtfully designed it is. The cable wiring and threaded metal rod at the bottom make it part of a boom system as much as a handheld one. Just be sure of the size of your microphone, and make sure you have the correct size screw or insert to attach to whatever your setup will be (mine will oddly be on a camera tripod).

Just excellent.

Very well-made grip. Folds conveniently and does not sag even with long shotgun mics or front-heavy stereo mics such as the Audio Technica BP 4025 or AT 8022. My last Rycote softie mount lasted over 20 years... this one may outlast me!

You can't go wrong with Rycote product.
voiceguy1974 12.06.2017
I bought it for my Sennheiser MKH 416 and I have to say that I am very happy with the quality. Suspension is good and although it reduces some handling noise, do not expect it to work wonders. All in all... At's a well made, quality product.
