Excellent strings!
marvinthemartian 23.12.2019
Steel Rotos are my favourite strings. I play in an alternative metal band in which I have the freedom to use different techniques - slap, tapping, etc.

Since I've had hand issues in the past, I tend to stick to lighter gauges. The tone is great, though it might not be for everyone's taste. It is bright and it has a lot of mids that help the bass cut through the mix. Also, it stays bright much longer than some of other brands that I've tried, like D'Addario and Ernie Ball. Another thing that I like about Rotosounds is their reliability and consistency. I have been stringing all my basses with this brand for the past 10 years. Yet, I have broken
only 2 or 3 strings. Bear in mind that this happened on my practice basses after months of heavy use.

If you are into alternative music and in need of strings which will give your instrument a more agressive sound, I highly recommend Rotosounds! However, I don't believe that these will work with some music styles where the bass stays almost always in the background, so keep that in mind.

Great feel, classic sound.
mjheikki 05.02.2022
These strings now come in a foil package with red silk (only) at the tuner end. Enough wrap to comfortably fit all my 35" basses. Great price for a 5-string set of this quality.

Feel: Flexible strings, but bounce back quite nicely. Nearly perfectly balanced feel and tension wise - only the D-string is slightly more taut for some reason. Not particularly rough or grabby.

Sound: These strings have meat. Quite present in the mids, great for rock music. Not the strings you want if you're looking for hi-fi zing/sheen.

Not very durable
Anonymous 09.01.2015
Great sounding, but not very durable strings. The strings got that "old" fell and sound to them pretty fast. Pretty cheap strings, but I think you could expect a little bit more.

Very Interesting
Froz3n 05.10.2020
I bought this set to test Cliff Burton sound as it is stated somewhere that he used .35 set. I use 5 string bass so this one is suitable for me. My bass' scale is 35". So extra long and this set fits without problem. Hence the D and G so thin, you can easily play solos which has bending techniques such as Cliff Burton's Anesteshia. I used this set at least 4 times. It lasts long, it keeps its fresh sound long. My only complain is the tension. It might be because of my bass' scale. It is quite slinky and loose on standart tuning. And it gets looser on D tunings. Highly recommended if you want to try something different.
