Remo 12" Ringcontrol

I have a Pearl Export, perfectly good middle-of-the-road kit in my opinion, but the toms are all really resonant. I mean really, REALLY resonant. So much so, with the original skins on (which aren't brilliant anyway), that you avoid playing them. So in a rehearsal studio scenario you have a couple of options. You can either spend hours fiddling about with tape and tissue and cushioning and tuning. Or you can buy one of these, fit it and play. Took just a couple of minutes to fit, totally took my ringing toms in hand, they sound great now - a bit of tuning and I've got a perfectly passable sound for practising. Top notch 'lazy' solution for toms that resonate way too much.

The 12" Ring Control Provided excellent muffling of unwanted overtones on my 12" Tom. The Muffl' ring is fitted by removing the drum skin and placing the plastic tray over the drum shell bearing edge, before refitting the drum head
The Muffl' Ring can be used in 2 ways It can be either used in it's entirety with the foam ring in position on the tray providing full dampening or without the foam ring so that only the plastic tray is in place providing a more minimal dampening effect.

The Muffl' ring provides a great drum tone, but it is at the expense of volume.
This is great if you are using drum mics or trying to keep the neighbors happy. Otherwise you are going to need to hit harder.

I run a home studio and have a studio kit for everyone to use. There's no longer a need for endless moon gel, e-rings and all other items to be stuck to the heads to control the sound. It looks better and sounds excellent. I also gig a different kit, and although I loved it I had endless trouble with the 16" floor tom booming through all the mics, one of these remo mufflers solved it, easy to tune up, easy application and should be long lasting as can't be accessed other than when changing the heads. They don't get in the way of the surface you have to hit either and can't fall off and be lost!
