Why no strain relief?
Daniel4610 06.06.2014
I have purchased several cables with Rean plugs. I like their compactness, style and quality. They have little strain relief grommets in black or red. So when I ordered some plugs to redo some foot pedals recently I was expecting the same. Unfortunately, the strain relief must be a separate product because these plugs don't have it. They just have a rather large hole that the cable goes into. I was concerned that the thin cable I was intending to use would end up breaking quickly and would look like the plug was incomplete. However, like another reviewer, I have now purchased a heat gun and have found that shrink wrapping the entire inside of the plug before screwing the cover in place offers pretty good strain relief, although it only marginally improves the appearance and was an un-needed additional expense. Overall, I would still recommend these plugs as the build quality and materials are very good and they are neater than the big Neutrik plugs.

Very nice but I wish it came with a cable relief, or is that what the white shrink(?) tubing is for? I will look into this :)

Sturdy basic mono plug
Anonymous 27.05.2014
Neutrik NYS224 is a good quality, all-round mono phone plug. This excels at rack systems etc. where the small size of a connector is more important than stress relief.

For guitar cables I'd recommend the sturdier NPX-series with touring-quality stress relief.

Could be a little better
OleksandrB 23.07.2014
Neutriks were always one of the best jacks for me.
This jack is solid and good, but one of the cons that wire is not fixed at the back.
Usually there has to be a little rubber wire fixer.

A very good quality plug, easy to solder and assemble. Still, for a guitar lead or a cable that has to be plugged in and unplugged often, I would choose a Neutrik NP2 over this connector type.

Very affordable and well built connectors with golden plates. Compact size makes them even better.

Nice looking plug, thread a bit loose.
Fredrik W. 23.06.2015
Ok plug, but the thread is too loose and you have to tighten it all the time. Ended up using plumbers thread tape to make it hold. Still a priceworthy plug, looks good and very compact.

I love these plugs. They are easy to solder and are very sturdy - all the cables I made using those have worked really well so far.

Good plug

It is easy to braze a cable to this plug. To fix the cable there are two metalpeaces you have to fold together. It is a little bid sad, that there is no anti-kink device.
