Overtone Labs Tune Bot Drum Tuner Studio

Purchased this with my first kit (also bought from Thomann), and used it to tune all heads after replacing the factory ones. The first 2-3 heads took a bit long, then with some practice it became pretty easy. The kit sounds great, and as novice I could not have achieve this without a drum tuner. Have to admit, I never used another type, but this seems like making do for a long time. If lost, I would re-order.
Pros: does what you need to tune drums and experiment with different tunings. And offers a lot more that I guess pro-s can use.
Cons: Got a few false readings, had to find the way to avoid them. For someone not familiar with drum tuning a bit extra in the manual could have helped, this this is my reason for rating it 4 on quality.
Two more things:
-The cylindrical storage box it comes in is not my thing, but understand if others like the idea.
-If you are a beginner like me, you may want to get the tune-bot app to pick your lug frequencies

Begining was quite hard, as I couldn't really get it to work, but there are two things to remember - first of all, shell which isn't currently tuned, have to be muted, just lay the drum on the carpet, and it will work just fine. Second thing, don't mount the Tune Bot, keep it in hand close to the hit area. And lastly, use reference from Tune Bot manual, sometimes it feels that it won't work well, but I've tested all toms and snare, and it works like a charm! Now tuning toms after few hours of recording takes something like 10 minutes, so it is best purchase I did in years!

I own the first gen version, but decided to try this one too. Mainly because the high freq mode for snare bottom heads. I had perfect success with the first version, only the snare bottom head gave me trouble. With this, perfect at the first try. I also compared the freq reading with toms and snare batter, within 1 Hz every time, so zero problems there. The display got better, easier to read and easier to understand the data. This time, it comes in a plastic case, which is a nice addition, not afraid anymore to take it with me. Have not used the saving system yet, but I have never used it on the old one either. So I can't compare that function. Some say you should not use tuning aids like this if you are a drummer. Wrong. This can help you train your ears for better tuning skills, and also helps you to understand the fundamentals and nuances of tuning. My only problem is that it is still not drop-proof. Otherwise... Highly-highly-highly recommended product!

The tune Bot drum tuner are easy to use. It is possible to store you're prefered settings, but I use it in the simplest way as I know what tuning values I want. It's always very quick to tune each drum to my preferences and my sound.
It works for experienced drummers, and it certainly works for beginners who will find the Tune Bot very usefull in a learning process on how to tune drums, especially when using the artist tuning settings found in Overtone Labs homepage.
I will highly recommend this tuner for everyone who wants an easy and good way to tuning their drums the proper way.
In a matter of short time and easy effort the drums will sound really amazing.
I love it, and I would be lost without it

I have been pretty obsessive about drum tuning for about 5 years now, as amateur drummer. I was fairly skeptical of this as I usually find it simply more effective to just tune drums by ear and feel than any tool I've used in the past. The first time I used it I was pleasantly surprised. This tool simply makes it that much easier to match your lug pitches. The calculator on their website to help you determine what frequency to tune your batter and reso heads to in order to manipulate the drums fundamental is incredibly helpful. Lastly being able to store the tunings is just great to make it that much easier to keep the kit consistent over time. This product does exactly what I needed.
