power supply

It works well as power supply, with or without being plugged in since the batteries do their job well. The battery compartment cover has a usability issue though: one needs a screwdriver to open it. Also, the batteries are somewhat loose inside. It comes with rubber legs which are to be glued on place.

One major thing to note here is that this box is useless without preamplifier. I found this out the hard way. One shouldn't generally do that but a decent dynamic mic plugged in to line input is actually louder than a phantom powered small-diaphragm condenser coming out from this power supply and connected to the same input.

The item gives me the impression of being bare or rough: plain metal box with battery hole and unpolished wooden battery compartment inside. And yet, it does its job and it does it well.

You might need it unexpectedly !
Gilo 891 17.01.2023
There are situations where a quick fix of phantom power is required and it is really tedious to get the power from one's mixing decks - even if they vary in size from big downwards.

Just such a situation might occur where we are requiring power for 1-2 mics into say a PA system and time is too short to drag out a mixing deck. Hence everyone who expects the unexpected should prepare for such an event by having a Millenium PP2B Phantom Power Supply in the microphone locker.

Using this to connect my Audiotechnica AT2020 mike, works fine. Sturdy quality and has the basic controls clear. Reliable so far.

N
good product but not perfect
Nathan745 14.05.2013
For some time I have been needing a unit that would provide phantom power to mics for a live scenario as I have inherited a desk without phantom power. The units are of a very useful size as they don't take up a lot of extra space. However, when I used them there was a considerable increase in hum. This could be from a poor adapter that I used to power the units, but the hum was too significant to use for the gigs.
Good product but not quite useable yet due to the hum issue.

If you need phantom power like I did you can't go wrong with this one for this price. Not a pro solution by any means but does what is supposed to do

Good but could have been better.

Does exactly what it is mean't to do but does not get five stars because of design.
I just wish it were smaller.
The internal electronics would suggest that this could have been manufactured in a box half the size. Another thing which would be helpful in my case would be to add the ability to plug in a 5pin MS mic direct into one input. (just a thought)
The two 9v PP3 batteries rattle around like bats in a biscuit tin and the door to access them is not easy to operate if you need to change the batteries in a hurry.

That said, on the audio side I can't fault it and it has been a very worthy addition to my kit.

This device is a lifesaver!! I have used it for filming and the first set of batteries have lasted for more than 8 hours of use. The LED to let you know it is on is a good way to save battery life. There's no unwanted humming or buzzing and the compact casing makes it easy to use and transport. All in all, it does what it says on the tin!
