Probably better than the other cheap Millenium stands
Riccardo D. 24.09.2018
I have a project studio/rehearsal room, so I need quite a few mic stands, and as it often happens by Murphy's Law, you'll need 8 at the same time when you just have 3-4 good ones.

For this reason, I bought several cheaper/lower quality stands, including plenty of Millenium ones.

It seems to me that the 2002 is the best of the bunch among cheap ones. The shorter stem results in additional sturdiness (relatively!). Besides, this height is just right for drums, percussion and most winds. It would also be good for amps, but personally I prefer other systems for that (clamps, mics hanging from their "tail", etc).

The normal footprint and low weight of this stand can make for unstable equilibrium. I would advise against using it with your boutique condensers, especially if the boom is extended. Well, common sense I guess.

Bottom line: A serious stand, suitable for real live use, weighs and costs 2-3 times as much as the 2002. Considering this, the 2002 remains a useful and reasonably priced addition especially as a spare/backup - while still 50% more expensive than the taller, flimsier and nearly useless 2005.

I have been using this stand (I have 2) for a long time and I'm very pleased on it's quality, just remember to tighten the screws once per year. It has never given up.

B
Great Stand
Briano 01.12.2013
I use this stand mostly for micing up my guitar amps live. Its very solid and never slips. The counter weight allows for solid mic placing and the mic never moves during the shows. It folds away tidily and takes up little space. This mic stand is very well built and will last a lifetime if you look after it. The telescopic boom is fantastic. It can reach the top speaker 4x12 on a stack easily if needed. It also looks really elegant when micing up a small combo. Our drummer likes it a lot too for micing his snare drum, as it can be hidden nicely out of the way, and also uses it for his kik drum mic,as it can reach several inches inside the front bass drum skin and hold a heavy mic securely, due to the counter weight. All the adjustable parts are solid and secure, . great product.

It a stand. It should be solid, but It really matters who use it. We really care about our accessories, so it really works.

What it says on the tin etc.
Mudslide73 05.10.2017
I got this stand for home studio use (guitar amps) but the quality is so good I've started taking out for live work also.

I love Thomanns own brand stuff and can't see the point of more expensive gear for my needs here. Just the right balance of value/quality.

My Co guitarist was so impressed with the value on offer he ordered 3 straight away for his studio/practice complex. (still going strong).

As always I was very impressed with the ordering and delivery - goes without saying with Thomman.

I'm very impressed and would order another in a heartbeat if I needed another.

P
Superb quality!

The only regret I have about this stand is that I didn't buy two or three! I needed one - absolute minimum - for miking my drummer's kick drum, both in our home-studio work and for live, but I saw a deal on elsewhere for cheap, full-size stands and I went for it, knowing that I could get away with having only one small stand. I wish I had gone the extra few quid and bought at least one more of these stands.

This stand is easily the best instrument mic stand I have - I have a couple of Hercules stands for vocals. In bang-for-buck terms, I would say this stand is better than my Hercules stands.

STANDS ABOVE THE REST
Tonto the Tepee 26.03.2024
This will be my 2nd 2002 small stand to go with my 3 other full size Millenium stands, it is light, well-made and sturdy, locks into position easily. Keeps the kick mic at a precise location. Highly recommended for novice and pro use, will not let you down at a price that is right.

A
Quality mic stand
AVTECHUK 22.10.2017
Working in the event industry I get to use most major brands of stands. Many firms seem to favour the K&M and Beyers. I purchase these for my own work to use on drums and guitars.
The build quality like much of Thomanns own products is really good. The stand feels well made and sturdy. I tend to use this stand with Shure SM57, and EV ND408 microphones and it has no problem holding these.
Another use i have found is for Hi Hat mics. The stand has enough height adjustment that it can easily reach to mic a hi hat from above and not bend or struggle with the wait.

Another great product from Thomann!
