Probably better than the other cheap Millenium stands
Riccardo D. 24.09.2018
I have a project studio/rehearsal room, so I need quite a few mic stands, and as it often happens by Murphy's Law, you'll need 8 at the same time when you just have 3-4 good ones.

For this reason, I bought several cheaper/lower quality stands, including plenty of Millenium ones.

It seems to me that the 2002 is the best of the bunch among cheap ones. The shorter stem results in additional sturdiness (relatively!). Besides, this height is just right for drums, percussion and most winds. It would also be good for amps, but personally I prefer other systems for that (clamps, mics hanging from their "tail", etc).

The normal footprint and low weight of this stand can make for unstable equilibrium. I would advise against using it with your boutique condensers, especially if the boom is extended. Well, common sense I guess.

Bottom line: A serious stand, suitable for real live use, weighs and costs 2-3 times as much as the 2002. Considering this, the 2002 remains a useful and reasonably priced addition especially as a spare/backup - while still 50% more expensive than the taller, flimsier and nearly useless 2005.

I bought a pair and considering the price, I was satisfied. After some time I bought another two but unfortunately the newer ones had the knobs made of hard plastic which isn't even nearly as durable as the more rubbery plastic on the older ones and also doesn't feel as nice. I was very disappointed.

Pros:
+ price
+ vertical part can be used without the boom
+ when you tighten the screw, the boom doesn't pivot
Cons:
- the stand is very light and a heavier microphone might tip it if fully extended
- knobs are now made of hard plastic which can break if the stand falls
-the paint can get scratched by the screw that holds the telescopic part of the boom in place

If you need a cheap small mic stand for a light mic (e.g. e906, KM184), this one is pretty good as long as you treat it well. Of course it ain't no K&M.

Maybe I should've lowered expectations...
Peter V_ 06.07.2020
...but this mic stand is kind of underwhelming. I came across a few different stands by now since I bought it and it's very lightweight (which is never good for any stand), the top element has an expendable piece but it doesn't have a stopping rim and when fully extruded it's unstable (I fear it's going to fall out) and the point where the bottom piece is screwed on the top piece requires it to be fully tightened, however then I can't rotate things around because the plastic cover is actually a set part of the top piece not a tightening element...
Admittedly it's not an expensive piece of equipment and it does the job about half the time, but if I need a good reach or need to use expensive microphones then this is not the right tool.

A
Great stand for an extremely reasonable price.
Anonymous 12.10.2016
I bought two of these stands intending to mic up drums for recording and live gigs. They were actually a lot smaller than I had been expecting and was disappointed at first but soon realized that this would work out to my advantage.

These stands fit perfectly within my drum kit to mic certain aspects of the kit. I have used these mic stands to mic the snare, hi-hats and floor toms. Because of the size of these stands there is no boom arms sticking out in the way of people on stage, hardware or cymbals etc.

Pros:
1) Fits perfectly around drum kits to mic snare, hats and floor toms without being in the way of anything else.

2) Due to its height this is also a great stand for miking guitar and bass cabs.

3) Extremely affordable price for the quality.

Cons:
1) I don't think there are any cons for this product to be honest.

-------------------

Summary:
This is a decent product for the price which yet again proves the outstanding service from Thomann. Great sturdy mic stand that I would recommend to others who are looking for a bargain.

Trash and Thomann is terrible in protecting their products for sending
School for Sustainability 20.07.2023
This Stand is pure Trash and Thomann is terrible in protecting their products for sending. As of today their customer care is also terrible as they made us make pictures, go to the post office to make the post sign papers that they won't sign and Thomann recognized this is normal. Now we are on top of all this effort, send them back and they ask us to protect them well otherwise no refund. Avoid this company like the pest. If they don't recapitulate in the coming days, look for video on youtube about a detailed review on the terrible treatment we received.

Great for the price
jackthemicman 08.07.2020
Having used several budget mic stands this is probably one of the best in terms of stability and build quality without spending substantially more money. I purchased two and use one regularly on snare top and kick. They're small enough to get into limited spaces in between a drum kit and the extendable boom arm is really useful when space is tight. There are some plastic elements which I can see becoming worn down with time however the attachment for the boom arm is excellent and the legs are sturdy plus these being metal is a definite benefit. I wouldn't recommend these for use in a busy music venue or on crowded stages as the plastic elements could easily be damaged or even broken, however for a home studio or some cheap backup replacement stands I can't fault them. I'd be a bit more sceptical putting heavier mic's such as larger condensers or valve mic's on these stands as I can see that they have the potential to drop or be knocked over however you could say the same about a lot of stands in this price range (and even the more expensive mic's such as K&M's are prone to this occasionally).

I have been using this stand (I have 2) for a long time and I'm very pleased on it's quality, just remember to tighten the screws once per year. It has never given up.

Doesn’t go to high!

The stand works just fine, I was a little surprised at the first use cause I was expecting something that I can use while standing, but it’s clearly explained in the description that it’s fine for a guitar amp or drums.
