I use this along with the 512 compressor and 502 preamp for a full channel strip for recording electric guitar.
Design wise, I've never been a fan of the dual potentiometer arrangement, but there's little ither choice to fit a full parameter 4 band EQ into a 500 series format. That said, you get used to it. What I do like on all these midas 500 series units in the illumination on all switches. This seems like something small but most other brands skimp on this and it's so handy to see whether something is engaged or not at a glance without having to get up or tilt your head to see if something is depressed or not.
It's possible to get some fairly aggressive 'correction' out of this EQ, but I use it to add some high mid and low grit to electric guitar. Works really well.
I'm not sure how Midas do this for the price, but this unit sounds great and operates well. It's solidly built too. I'm very happy with it.
I don't know why Midas insist on shipping these in, admittedly very plush wooden boxes, but it's such a waste. Please stop!
Otherwise don't hesitate to get yourself one of these or any of the Midas 500 series units. All are excellent and very reasonably priced.
