What I liked in the Meinl ID4BKO Ibo drum
TimurS 22.06.2015
The possibilities of sound in this drum is very broad. But its main feature which I love - it is a deep, hypnotic bass. At home recording as a hook I use it mainly just as a bass instrument.
This model of the drum is made of fiberglass. The apparent advantage of fiberglass is its strength, allowing the drums to do with thinner walls and to achieve a more powerful and confident sound in the game. In addition, fiberglass weigh less and you are not forced to worry about accidental bumps during transport.
There is also an interesting technique of playing when the properties of the cavity changes with the help of water poured into the pot. This drum takes a truly mystical sound with water inside. Due to the greater density fiberglass drum gives more responsive to changes in the level of water in the cavity, opening the almost fantastic possibilities of the instrument.

Terrible sound
Boner McGregor 28.04.2021
Having read the numerous five-star reviews of this product, I was very excited about receiving it. And while the instrument looks quality to the naked eye, I found it to be lacking in many areas.
One of the reasons that I bought this was that I figured fibreglass would be much tougher than ceramic or clay, and thus the udu would last much longer. However, I had neglected to think about the most important factor with any instrument – the sound. The instrument sounds awful to my ear. It has an almost plastic sound to it (which is understandable I guess) and has very poor resonance and a disappointing bass. As a result, it was not at all fun to play.
While the finish looks good from the outside, if you hold it up to a source of light and look inside, there are several random patches where the material is quite thin, and others where it is thicker.
It also has a terrible, chemical smell which adds to the feeling that you are playing a lump of plastic.
So, to sum up: Robust, but sounds rubbish and smells just as bad.

Good for the money
mulepolka 23.09.2023
Very practical, very resistant, no worries about dropping it on the floor! the sound is not very "crispy" and it has the problem of every other Udu : it's difficult to microphone! However, it produces very distinct sounds ( Bottom + Side + body ) on top of the typical Udu sound of the hole. Overall I am happy and I consider it a good ratio price-quality
