Good, reliable working instrument.
eihmanis 31.10.2017
I've used this amp for few years now in following situations:
- mostly in solo gigs in restaurants, small birthday parties, wedding background and ceremony music. This is also main reason I bought this amp for acoustic guitar with loop pedal and voice.
- for few small gigs with band where we didn't have PA - we used amp as vocal amp with two mics for solo and back vocals. For this reason amp was really Ok for lets say large living room parties, not bigger. I wasn't sure about such solution at first, but amp performed really great and from time to time it can be used in such way, but of course cant be compared to decent PA system.

Pros
- Sound is really good quality for instrumental use and Ok quality for vocal use - I mean not super great, but Ok for solution if you want instrument and voice from one device. If you want superb vocal quality, purchase PA.
Cons
- Handle is really poor. It breaks down so quickly. It broke down to my amp and to some 6 others, I've seen so far. Marshal could work on this, come on guys, it's not rocket science to build decent handle :)
- Weight. It's not very heavy, but quite heavy if you have to carry it for few blocks. Basically, if you own this device, you'll have to have car, to carry it to gig. On the other hand, to deliver at least Ok sound you need some kilos.
- for me chorus function is rubbish, really unbearable to hear, sounds terrible. Reverb on the other hand is quite nice, I use it all the time.
- feedback control doesn't work. This amp has this feature, but It just doesn't help if you have feedback problems, so dont count on it when purchasing.

Overall - I would recommend this to my friend, but with comment to check out Fender fishman amps or HK audio products, or consider small PA solution - small mixing desk with one compact speaker.

SC
Perfect Acoustic Amp For Singer/Songwriter Or Gigging Musician
Shane C. 14.05.2013
I'd read plenty of reviews before choosing this amp over many of it's cheaper competitors. Some amps had the same wattage but the sound and features were inferior. For me, the Marshall AS50D delivered on all fronts. The sound quality is very good, and the 50 watts of power are enough for any solo musician to perform in a small-medium sized venue. This amp has the capability to take a guitar and a mic which is how I have been using it. The reverb and chorus effects are superb, especially the reverb, beautiful tone on my Guild acoustic from it. I have yet to have any issues with the sound, build quality or features which is why I have given this amp 5 stars. If you're stuck between this amp, cheaper models such as the Kustom Sienna and more expensive models such as the Fender Acoustasonic series, I would recommend the Marshall for the best value for money and overall performance.

Hi my name is Jan and what I am going to tell everyone is important if you are still think about AS50D, BUY IT!! I am visiting this website for last two years and like everybody I had my specificities products which one I would like to have in my room and trust me or not I was looking on that Marshall for long time and finally I get it! It has it vintage style, great quality and what is the most important unusual sound!!50W will drive You crazy but the sound is pure and is giving me so much pleasure of playing on guitar and singing that my Neighbours are finding very nice of listening but of course you need to be gentle because it is very loud.So if you did not decide it yet the answer is simple you need to HAVE IT!

If i broke it i would buy another
Anonymous 04.08.2014
I have found this combo to be very versatile. I use the phono-ins to play audio from my laptop. It has withstood 2 years of toddlers jumping on and off it. My 3 year old son can operate it (gets a bit heavy with the reverb at times).

I have gigged with this, fault free, for 7 years

I have found that it doesn't push much air out of it and doesn't cope too well as a sole means of amplification during gigs with a full band.

However, it works very well for on stage monitoring and does a good job for guitar and vocals at parties and quiet venues where people come to listen rather than to drink.

I use it as an onstage monitor and acoustic pre-amp when playing larger or noisier venues. Usually i DI out from it into the PA. The notch filter allows me to police the epic feedback from the condenser mic inside my acoustic that, prior to purchasing this item, made my acoustic guitar unusable in a live performance.

I can't really compare this unit to any others as i stuck with it after buying. If i broke it (it's been dropped many times and rattled about the boot of my car from one week to the next) i would buy it again.

I have a couple of mid-range electro-acoustic guitars, and I wanted dedicated signal processing to bring the best out of these instruments. It was a choice between the BBE Acoustimax Acoustic Preamp, the Vox AGA30 acoustic guitar amp, and this Marshall AS50D. Having had the Marshall for a week now, I think I made the right choice. The build quality is as you would expect (ie. great), it is very well spec'd and is powerful for it's compact size. There is a dominant mid-frequency tone that can dominate the sound but a notch control on board allows you to locate and defeat this if it is a problem.

I got my British made amp delivered to my London home via Thomann in Germany, because they were selling this item for ?20 cheaper than anyone else. It was well packaged and arrived after four days.

Marshall AS50D Review
Richard3554 11.07.2015
This is a perfect piece of kit for the singer/songwriter having inputs for both microphone and guitar. I play an Ovation Balladeer semi acoustic through it with a Shure SM59 mic through a TC Helicon Harmony Singer to add the vocals. The features allow a perfect balance between the two if you put in the time to mess about with it. You could definitely use this to gig with on your own. It looks great (as all Marshalls do in my opinion), it's not too heavy and goes nicely "up to 11" should you need it to. Thoroughly recommended.

Great sounding performance machine
myka 28.12.2019
Why I like it:
• It's an all-in-one solo-artist performance-machine, that saves time from carrying technical stuff to carrying the performance itself. Just plug and play.
• Guitar sounds great. The Guitar line sound gets much nicer and more pleasant when it's plugged into this amp.
• Vocal sounds good. I'd say 8.5/10 and it is best in a double-price range.
• Two speakers make it sound clearer and without distortion when "many sounds" are happening at once.
• It looks nice and decorates the view when it's put in front of the audience.

What I miss:
• It could be lighter: it weighs 16 kg and 12kg would be perfect.
• Parametric 3-band EQ for the vocal channel.
• Higher price - for an artist it is worth double its costs.

Overall:
It is the best amp for solo GUITAR and vocals artists in a double price range.

Very Nice Acoustic Amp
Anonymous 11.03.2016
Very Nice Acoustic Amp.

Suitable for acoustic gigs in small venues. I'm using it with my duo. We are one singer and one acoustic guitar (Takamine G series) and it does perfectly well the job. We do weddings, galas, etc...

I don't use the effects much, appart from the reverb which you can allocate more or less to the voice/guitar channel.

The only thing missing would be a way to have 2 voices and a guitar at the same time (even if it was a third channel with less control, just for backing vocals for instance).

The design is great, it looks good on a gig.

I recommend it, it does the job.

P
Great amp
PeterJohn 28.09.2023
I love this amp for my acoustic guitar. Keep in mind though, that because the mid frequencies are the ones that make the acoustic guitar sound bad, in this amp they already omitted the mids. So it's perfect for acoustic guitars but I am not sure if it would work for other uses, without some external EQing
